Ghost Cult had the pleasure of spending our Halloween 2019 at HQ chatting with the legend himself, Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth by phone. Amidst a whirlwind few years of touring the world, writing, and recording a new album, Dani has brought forth the amazing complete Remix and Remaster of their 1998 landmark album Cruelty and The Beast. The resulting release - Cruelty and the Beast – Remistressed Edition, out now via Music For Nations (read the Ghost Cult full review here), is one of the finest remasters you will ever hear, totally going back to the source tapes and present the album as it was intended. Dani was happy to discuss the arduous process that took years, the reasons (mostly legal) the collection didn't release as planned in 1998, the work he did with Scott Atkins at Grindstone Studio, his thoughts on Cruelty upon its release compared with now, the infamous story of their 1998 arrest at The Vatican, and his plans for the next Cradle album, coming soon! Cheers, Dani! Purchase the album here: https://smarturl.it/CrueltyandtheBeast Continue reading →

One of our favorite interviewees in person or the phone is Matt Harvey of Exhumed. Matt is as amazing to chat with as he is a guitarist and bandleader. Exhumed's new album is the aptly titled Horror (Relapse Records) which came out just ahead of Halloween 2019, and he was in a spooky mood when we chatted. We talked about the new album, his proclivity for writing great OSDM songs, the consistency of the current lineup of the band, his favorite horror movies ever, and his thoughts on attending Metallica's "S and M 2 Concerts" in San Francisco, earlier this fall.
