They sit quietly all around us, faded by the years, advertising products and businesses that often no longer exist — Plume Motor Oil, Excelsior Coffee, Bex Powders, and all manner of brands of soft drinks, clothing lines and confectionery now lost in time.

Ghost signs — they're found in our towns, suburbs and cities in the form of old billboards or shop hoardings that have somehow survived redevelopment, or simply being painted over.
