  • Ep 60 - Open Night
We love having Bud on the show and Bonnie is her usual self. When we brought the show back in 2016, we did a lot of these types of shows in the first year. The freedom of the current podcast environment was awesome. We could say whatever we wanted and go for as long or little as we liked without terrestrial radio restrictions. A lot of people have told us that their favorite part of “Ghostly Talk” was always the first 30 minutes when we just talked about our week. So we thought we’d nix the interviews altogether and “just talk.”
But we realized we really missed having cool people on the show to interview about their projects, research or whatever they were working on within the realms of the paranormal. We are constantly tweaking the show’s direction, so if you were someone who liked that “first 30 minutes,” enjoy us just rambling.

  • Ep 59 - Lee Austin | Flat Earth Theory, Moon Landing Hoax and More
Sci-fi author and radio broadcaster Lee Austin joined us to talk some conspiracy theory with his new novella, "Morning Star’s Tale". Lee talked about the controversial flat earth theory, the U.S. moon landing being faked, DNA as spiritual technology and why he chose Lucifer to tell his story. Lee hopes the “book will push people to question our spoon-fed reality.” We enjoy having ideas on the show that may not be the most accepted with the masses.
    Book Description:
Narrated by the Father of Lies, "Morning Star’s Tale" is Lucifer’s revelatory confession. Presented with a mixture of hubris and disdain for the reader, the Light Bearer pulls back the dimensional veil, disclosing the secrets of his flat earth, his occultic kingdom and the multi-verse. Foreknowledge that his tale will be rejected emboldens Lucifer to tell the truth.
Lee Austin is an American broadcaster known for his alternative talk show, Outcast Radio. Pushing the existential envelope with topics including theology, metaphysics, and conspiracy theories, Lee’s show flourished as a late-night favorite for those in search of the truth. Born in Boston, Lee moved to Los Angeles in his early twenties to pursue a career as a stand-up comedian. With the entertainment bug firmly planted, Lee found his calling in radio. For over thirty years, he’s crisscrossed the country as a talk show host, disc-jockey, copy-writer and program director for numerous radio stations. In 2017, he wrote Morning Stars Tale, a sci-fi novella, covering many of the topics discussed on Outcast Radio.

  • Ep 58 - Kelly Christian | Postmortem Photography & The Order of the Good Death
Kelly Christian joined us for a super fascinating look into the world of postmortem photography, essentially, pictures of dead people. The practice was common in the 19th century but went out of vogue in the early 20th century. We also had a lively discussion about death, what “death positivity” means and The Order of the Good Death, lead by mortician, author, and YouTube personality Caitlin Doughty.
“Kelly is a writer, maker, and thinker based in Chicago. She is interested in visual representations of death and their cultural ramifications. After photographing military funerals in Maine during the height of the Iraq War, Kelly realized that there was no turning back from the dark side. Kelly Christian holds a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Studies from Syracuse University, a certificate in Documentary Photography from the Salt Institute of Documentary Studies, and a Master of Arts in Visual and Critical Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her dissertation subject was postmortem photography.
She has written extensively at Dilettante Army and is a member of the Order of the Good Death.
When not totally delighted by the macabre, Kelly is making bad jokes, hanging out with cats, indulging in tacos or trying to go to every obscure museum out there.”

  • Ep 57 - Brian Jones, Audio Medium | Instrumental Transcommunication
Brian Jones has been practicing ITC (Instrumental Transcommunication) for decades. He has experimented with backward speech and has created his own devices to experiment with. Brian’s mind runs a mile a minute, so try to keep up on this 3-hour episode complete with over 25 unusual sound clips recorded by Brian over the years.
Also available with this episode at Ghostlytalk.com are the links to our very first discussion with Brian when he came on the show with Dr. Stephen Rorke on Monday, October 9th, 2006. (Scott L. calls out the date October 8th, 2006, but that was incorrect, and he should be beaten for the blunder.) This show has been asked about A LOT, and it will now be put back permanently into our archives.
This is a very strange show given the anomalies that were experienced by everyone involved (Doug, Scott L, Brian, and Dr. Rorke) during the live broadcast. We are happy that people will be able to listen to it again.

  • Ep 56 - Jason Offutt | Chasing American Monsters
Jason Offutt is seriously fun. We talked crazy creatures, cryptozoology and his new book, Chasing American Monsters. What the hell is a Grunch, Wog and Boo Hag? Space Penguins? And of course, plenty of Bigfoot/Sasquatch/Yeti pondering. Cryptozoology is making a comeback and people from other paranormal disciplines (UFO, ghosts) are starting to make connections between the categories. When one thinks about how huge our planet really is and how much is honestly not explored, is it really so hard to believe we haven’t found every living creature on our third rock from the sun?

  • Ep 55 - Heather Tobin
Heather Tobin (formerly Lambert in the show archives) has a magnetic, fun personality and was a favorite guest of ours going way back with the show. We have enjoyed inviting former guests to return and Heather was no exception. Heather has had a long time interest in exploring the paranormal and creepier things in life and we picked her brain about her stay in the oldest (and super haunted) city in the United States, St. Augustine, Florida, torture devices, cannibalism…you know, normal standard conversation.

Melissa's first book, “Kitchen Table Tarot”, provides a down to earth, common sense approach to reading tarot cards. It also won the Independent Publisher Award for Best First Book.

  • Ep 53 - John DeSouza | The "Real" X-Files
John DeSouza was an FBI Special Agent investigator for over 20 years and a collector of the real-life “X-Files.” Today, he is revealing these stories as a leading researcher and writer on the paranormal. He was an attorney and investigator who maintained a Top Secret security clearance for many years. This background infused him with an ability to decipher mysteries that are beyond conventional abilities.
We talked about some seriously creepy stories with John, especially the “Gray Baby” story. Chills! Listen and learn!

  • Ep 52 - Tamara Thorne
Tamara Thorne was one of the first guests to ever appear on Ghostly Talk in the old days and we were pleased to finally have her back again!
Tamara Thorne’s first novel was published in 1991. Since then she has written many more, including international bestsellers Haunted, Bad Things, Moonfall, and The Sorority. Join us as Scott L. and guest host Chris Bailey from Grimstone Inc. dive into Tamara’s new work, a few heavy ghost stories, and our favorite horror movies.

  • Ep 51 - Having Purpose in Life | Dr. Michael Bays
    - The more you own, the more it owns YOU.
    - Can you say you've had a good life?
    - "I'll be happy when..."
We talk about the importance of having a purpose in life and learn Dr. Michael Bay's story that led him to change his stride and why he and his brother started The Hollow Tube Podcast. And of course, we get some "ghostly" talk in there as well.
Dr. Michael is a Board Certified Ear, Nose and Throat specialist, integrative physician, speaker and educator to surgeons in training. He enjoys working with the brilliant young doctors he mentors and the veteran patients they treat. In addition to being trained in traditional western medicine and surgery, Michael is a graduate of the University of Arizona's Fellowship in Integrative Medicine and spent over a decade studying shamanism and other indigenous healing modalities.
