Bert has been overlanding through Indonesia, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Malaysia. Originally we ran across @wazimulife on social media, immediately stopping to admire their massive M1078 build, then lured in deeper with their gorgeous interior design, displayed with stunning perfection. Okay, we admit, we thought we were looking at two separate builds... As we looked closer, we were more than enthralled to discover it was all the same build! If you take the time to read further, you will discover two people with overflowing talents, hearts of passion, interlaced with humility, along with a raw but refreshing style of honesty.

Carola and Stefano of Heimathafen.one (meaning Home Port) joined us from Northern Norway, aboard “Fred”, a converted MAN 16.232 4X4 container transport truck.

Carola and Stefano are both from Hamburg, Germany now overlanding full time as digital nomads. We cover a lot of great topics from their truck, border crossings, finances and how they’re able to overland travel full-time while working.

We knew when they described themselves as the Chill Commissioner and Social Officer, along with their dog as a Heartbreaker of the Lady Dogs; we were going to have a fun conversation. Dan Grec of “The Road Chose Me” sold all his belongings in June of 2009, quit his job and set off on an Overlanding Adventure of a lifetime. Dan started with a 50,000 mile trip from his home in Calgary to Prudhoe Bay Alaska as he turned south to spend 1 year and 10 months going south to Ushuia, in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, Overlanding through 17 Countries. After about a 4 year break back at home, Dan set off to Africa, logging roughly 54,000 miles, exploring 35 countries in 999 days. In this two part interview, Dan shares his knowledge, tips and a few great road stories from his overlanding trips.

Time being more precious than money, memories more valuable than things and experiencing new places, new people and cultures, was going to be much more valuable to them and their children than reading about them in books. After their daughter Caroline presented the idea of New Zealand, their seed for overlanding adventure was planted.
