Overlanders from Europe, Hungary who quit their jobs at the end of last year. Evelin (27) worked in online marketing and Ferenc (38) is a lawyer, specialized in mutual funds. They’ve been together for 4 years and during that time had done a few backpacking trips in Asia, but also done a couple of major overland trips before their current trip. Last year they discovered northern Europe and in early 2018 travelled to Africa, which turned out to be a test run for their equipment and vehicle. Based on these trips they made modifications to their vehicle and equipment setup.

We travelled a lot together, and planned this trip since mid-2017. I (Ferenc) have driven all the way from London to Mongolia in 2014 (long story because we actually had to sell the car in Tajikistan) and this trip had basically made me want to do a similar trip again. That’s when I started to look into this type of travel a bit further, reading about it, watching loads of youtube videos in this niche.

Leaving the 9-5 world opens up your perspective, your view on the world and makes you realise that there is more to life than just the routine. Overlanding is making you capable of reaching places where it would be more difficult or even impossible to get to in a conventional way (as a usual/typical tourist).

    The Way Overland

Overlanding with Jolie and Mark of Australia
After being introduced to Mark and Jolie from one of our listeners, we were delighted to arrange an interview with this Australian couple as they prepared for a month long hike in Nepal.

Jolie and Mark are on a three year overlanding trip from Australia to London in their 2006 Toyota Troopcarrier. After a twelve month buildout, they departed their home in Australia in July of 2017, and headed North. Their YouTube series is inspiring to watch, as they document their amazing overlanding journey. Be sure to subscribe to their channel, as they travel through areas some of use might have reservations about. Showing the world, just how friendly and beautiful each destination is along their Australia to London route.
