Adventures in Middle Earth: S1, Ep11 “Ring of Fire”

Peace never lasts long in Middle-earth.

What begins as relief turns to chaos when a band of orcs descends upon the ring fort. With only a handful of guards — most of them barely more than frightened peasants — the Guild must help hold the line against the sudden assault.

In the confusion, Dindy is seized by the orcs and dragged into the darkness, leaving the party scrambling to defend the fort and prevent the attack from turning into a full massacre.

The Lonely takes a direct approach by chopping down trees. Arminas lights a torch. Haldir motivates the guards in his own uniquely threatening way. And Aiden chooses this exact moment to ask Dindy if he has any plans for the evening.

Steel clashes, torches burn, and the Guild find themselves thrown headfirst into their first true battle in Middle-earth.

And the night is only just beginning.

Adventures in Middle Earth: S1, Ep10 “Trees and Cheese”

Dan once again guides Justin, Sam, Ash and Mike through the wilds of Middle-earth as the party finally closes in on the missing hobbit, Dindy.

The trail leads them to their quarry at last — but the truth behind his disappearance proves far more trivial than any of them expected, and his recent adventures are slowly revealed.

While the mystery unfolds, the party continue to display the finest traditions of the Guild. Haldir takes a moment to bury some bones, Arminas climbs a tree, The Lonely focuses on the far more pressing matter of eating cheese, and Aiden responds to events in the most mature way possible… by storming off in a huff.

The search may be over — but the trouble is only just beginning.

Adventures in Middle Earth: S1, Ep9 “Broke Back Bungo”

The road to Bree begins.

Dan leads Justin, Sam, Ash and Mike onward from The Tavern, their path set toward answers — and toward Dindy’s uncertain fate.

But Middle-earth rarely allows quiet journeys.

Along the road, the party glimpse a strange yet familiar figure: a grey-bearded man, staff in hand, watching from afar. Friend? Foe? Or something far more insignificant?

The air grows colder when a wraith appears, raising a single finger in silent accusation.

The Lonely makes a tactical decision to bravely retreat halfway back to Mirkwood, Aidan finds time to wave enthusiastically at passing elves, and Ash bears witness to Bungo enduring an unfortunate and undignified predicament.

The road stretches long toward Bree.

And something is watching.

Adventures in Middle Earth: S1, Ep8 “The Calm Bree-fore The Storm”

After a brief hiatus, the Guild return to Tolkien’s world and pick up their tale within the timbered comfort of Woodland Hall.

Dan leads Justin, Sam, Ash and newcomer Mike as the party finally enjoy a moment of peace — hunting in the forest, fishing in quiet waters, and sampling more ale than is strictly heroic.

A new face joins the company: Arminas, an elf whose arrival signals that rest may not last long.

Peace is broken when Bungo receives troubling news — a letter telling of Dindy’s disappearance, brother to the innkeeper the Guild met days before. The Lonely attempts to offer comfort to a grieving family, Aiden hungers for steel and glory and Ash quietly notices a man with a goat who may — or may not — matter at all.

Rest, reunion, and the first stirrings of a new quest.

Middle-earth may be calm… but not for long.

Deadlands: The Devil’s Due, Ep5 “The Quick And The Dead-ish”

The blood drive turns deadly.

As the Lazy S crew make camp on the long trail north, the night brings more than restless sleep. Out of the darkness come the men of Bayou Vermillion — and this time they’re not riding alone. The dead walk beside them.

Gunfire cracks through the night as the posse fights to hold the line against a relentless assault of steel, teeth, and cold hands clawing from the grave. It’s a brutal stand, and not everyone will ride away when the smoke clears.

As if the walking dead weren’t enough, the mysterious To’Sarre emerges from the darkness, bringing with him whispers of dread and visions that shake the crew to their core.

Blood spills, courage falters, and the trail north grows darker still.

Some drives cost more than cattle.

D&D 5e: Sniff Around, Ep4 “Fellowship Of The Greens”

Brad leads Justin, Mike and Dan deeper into the mystery of Gallowmere’s missing vegetables, and at last the truth begins to surface.

Following the trail of raided caravans, the party uncover a gang of goblins led by the ruthless Captain Scragg, who appear to be strangling the town’s trade under the orders of a shadowy figure known only as “V”. The conspiracy runs deeper than anyone expected — but whether the Guild can actually improve the situation remains an open question.

Brother Armageddon recalls the wise teachings of his master at just the right moment, Danforth unleashes devastating magic, and Aramill demonstrates a rare and consistent talent for rolling nothing but ones.

Will they return to Gallowmere as heroes…

…or just another part of the problem?

D&D 5e: Sniff Around, Ep3 “Turnip The Heat”

Brad leads Dan, Mike and Justin deeper into the mysteries of Gallowmere, where the town’s shortage of fresh vegetables proves to be more than just poor harvests and bad luck.

As rumours of raided caravans begin to surface, the party starts to piece together the truth behind the town’s troubles — though not without the usual level of Guild competence.

Aramill ends up soaked in oil, Brother Armageddon demonstrates the safest possible way to enter a burning building, and Danforth proves once again that stealth is more of a suggestion than a skill.

An investigation unfolds, supplies run low, and the heroes press on in their noble quest…

…for fresh vegetables.

Brad takes the helm with Justin, Sam P and Ash to introduce three brand-new G.I.A. recruits in the second episode of our new campaign, set in the dockside town of Gallowmere.

Strange symbols begin appearing around the harbour. Whispers spread of occult dealings in shadowy warehouses. And before long, our debut adventurers find themselves tangled in the suspiciously incompetent plans of a gang of thugs dabbling in forces they absolutely do not understand.

Auorie the Goliath fails to lift a barrel. Morgren investigates some mysterious white powder by having a sniff. And Brother Armageddon contributes heroically… by cleaning a floor.

It’s smugglers, symbols, and spectacularly poor choices as the newest members of the Guild prove that ineptitude truly knows no experience level.

The cattle are restless. The tension is worse.

Red steps into the dust to face Phelps in the most sacred ritual of the frontier — a duel. Guns poised. Eyes locked. One heartbeat too many before the draw.

Elsewhere, Ruby discovers that briar patches are not, in fact, soft. Philippe channels his strange magic to patch up the posse (and himself, naturally). And Harry graciously, humbly, and completely without exaggeration takes full credit for driving off the Bayou Vermillion gunmen.

But the work doesn’t stop.

The cattle drive finally heads north — and the plains answer with violence. Lightning tears across the sky, chaos erupts, and one unfortunate steer meets a truly explosive end. As the smoke clears, a lone figure watches from the hilltops.

The Blood Drive has begun.

And something is already hunting them.
