Former UConn Football star, Captain, Sean Mulcahy, who was also an incredible broadcaster. Is here for Husky Talk-SNS, we take a look at the upcoming draft and what we expect. Talk about our NY Giants and how the offseason is going. UConn had a spring game, along with the NCAA trying to regulate eligibility rules and payments to student athletes.
The Giants have been very active this offseason, completely different than years past. Sean thinks John Harbaugh is absolutely in charge, while General Manager Joe Shoen is basically a Christmas decoration. We agree many of the free agent signings have been positive, adding much needed depth and important pieces to the roster. Tremaine Edmonds was picked up to replace LB Bobby Okereke. We are both big fans of Bobby and thought it was a poor switch, but if Edmonds stays healthy, he can make plays. TE Isiaih Likely we believe can be a solid pass catcher who blocks well. He replaces Darren Waller who was traded to Miami, often injured.
The monumental trade happened with disgruntled DT Dexter Lawrence, who was an All Pro 2 years ago, and was basically a cone on the field last season. Lawrence was paid handsomely at $21 million on the books for the final years of his 2nd contract. We did not think anyone would trade a first round pick, thankfully, the Bengals saved the day.
Sean and I debate what to do now with two first round picks in the top 10 of the draft. Overall, we don't think this is a fantastic class, trading back we see as the best move. Stay with the 10th pick and take Safety Caleb Downs or I want Wide Receiver Carnell Tate.
We talk about UConn, hopes for Skyler Bell, Louis Hansen, Joe Fagnano. Bell is projected as a 4th rounder, we think he could go higher. QB Joe Fagnano projects as a 7th rounder, he should make a roster or practice squad at worst.
TE Louis Hansen is a complete TE, diamond in the rough. At 6'5 250, a dominant blocker, he runs good routes and can catch. Statistically, it doesn't show, but he is a dynamic player. I see him making a roster, practice squad at worst. TEs are hard to find, and Louis is as talented as they come.
