This Organ Donor Month, we bring you A Gift of Life, a podcast series taking an in-depth look at the organ and tissue donor landscape in South Africa, and introducing you to the people whose lives are affected by it.

In today's episode, we chat with two women who are both organ recipients.  Tanya Bothma is a little over 5 years post a double lung transplant – the first of its kind to be performed in a state hospital anywhere in Africa. Tina Beckbessinger is 12 years post-surgery for a heart and bilateral lung transplant -  one of the first to have the op, and one of the longest surviving patients.  They speak to us about growing up with chronic serious illness, about the experience of transplant surgery and recovery, and about how they honour their donors who gave them a second chance at life.
