Romance at it's Best
Carly di Matisse celebrity-chef, left a disastrous marriage and moved to Pine Mountain to restart to her life, on a temporary basis. Meet contractor Jackson Carter, forever bachelor. Jackson is fixing the deck on Carly's rental when they first meet. Neither one wants to admit the sparks are flying immediately. Both are commitment phobes so maybe friends with benefits will work. Not!!
I am absolutely in love with this small town in the Mountains. This is the second book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. I love the friendship these characters have especially Jackson and Shane, nice to see male bonding, along with the girl friendships. The sexual chemistry of Jackson and Carly is fun. Of course no book of Ms. Kincaid's can be without food, recipes included. So, romance and food how can you go wrong, highly recommend this book. Can't wait for book three. I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review.
Gimme Some Sugar by Kimberly Kincaid 5+ out of 5 stars
Carly is in Pine Mountain originally because the man she was married to was riding on her expertise as a chef and co-host of a local food show. He betrayed her to her boss and she was fired. Now her ex is trying to get back at her by delaying their divorce and trying to force her hand at a reconciliation. Her ex husband has even stooped so low that he gets Carly's Mother onboard with their reconciliation.
Jackson is hiding from his past and refuses to become seriously involved with a woman because he feels that due to his circumstances growing up that he is unable to truly fall in love. His siblings don't seem to have the same issues as he does. They are married or engaged to be married and Jackson's Mother wants all her children to be happy.
When a freak storm knocks a tree over onto the deck of the house that Carly is renting she meets Jackson for the first time. Jackson comes out to survey the damage and catches Carly in her bathrobe belting out a tune, but not in the best way, and he sits and listens to her. When she sees him she freaks out and starts throwing things at him. She didn't know he was there to fix the damage to the deck only that he was a peeping Tom. Their relationship begins to grow out of friendship. Jackson thinks that what they have is perfect because she's been open about returning to the big city once she has established herself as a chef once more.
What Carly and Jackson have between them is combustible, sexy heat that explodes when they get near each other.
