Prayer
We pray when we're desperate. We pray when we need answers. But what if prayer wasn't our last resort, but our first instinct? A great church isn't built on brilliant strategies or talented people alone. It's built on a foundation of people who listen to God, trust His direction, and make prayer a way of life.
Our guest preacher, Reverend Sue Nilson Kibbey, served as Ginghamsburg’s executive pastor from 2000 to 2010. Whether it was through her book Ultimately Responsible, or helping us discover our spiritual gifts through her class Ministry By Strengths, she was instrumental in developing our church’s culture of serving. At one point, she even lead our Broken Chains motorcycle ministry. Since then, Pastor Sue has helped churches across the country explore what can happen when prayer becomes central to their life together. Stuck churches have found breakthrough because of Pastor Sue’s unique calling to refocus congregational development on the power of the Holy Spirit through prayer. ginghamsburg.org
What Happens When We Die?
Eventually, every one of us confronts the question we spend most of our lives avoiding: What happens when I die? Heaven, hell, judgment, resurrection, eternity—there are plenty of cultural assumptions, but what does Scripture actually say? We close The X-Files by facing death without pretending it isn't scary, and exploring the reason Christians believe death doesn't get the last word. ginghamsburg.org
Do Miracles Still Happen?
The Bible is filled with stories of the impossible—seas parting, bodies healed, storms silenced, even the dead raised to life. But what are we supposed to make of those stories today? Were miracles reserved for another time, or does God still intervene in extraordinary ways? This week, we’ll wrestle with what miracles are, why they happen, and whether we should still expect them. ginghamsburg.org
The Dark Side of the Force
Evil is real. We see its fingerprints in violence, hatred, addiction, deception, and destruction—but is there something more happening beneath the surface? This week, we explore what Scripture says about Satan, demons, temptation, and spiritual warfare—and why followers of Jesus don't have to live afraid of the darkness. ginghamsburg.org
Touched By An Angel
Angels are everywhere in pop culture—cute decorations, mysterious protectors, even people we love who have died. But how much of what we believe about angels actually comes from Scripture? This week, we separate folklore from faith and explore who these mysterious messengers really are, what they do, and why they matter. ginghamsburg.org
Looking In All The Wrong Places
We’re all searching for something—purpose, connection, answers, maybe even evidence that there’s more to life than what we can see. And when those needs run deep, it’s easy to go looking anywhere that promises something spiritual: psychics, astrology, the occult, or whatever else might offer a glimpse beyond the ordinary. But not everything supernatural leads us toward God. This week, we’ll explore where we’re looking—and why the source matters. ginghamsburg.org
What Good is the Church?
More people than ever are asking if church is still necessary. Why gather? Why belong? Why not just follow Jesus on your own? This final week explores God's vision for the Church—not as a building or an institution, but as a community where lives are transformed and hope is shared. ginghamsburg.org
What Does God Think About War?
War has shaped human history from the opening pages of Scripture to today's headlines. Is violence ever justified? What does it mean to follow the Prince of Peace in a world filled with conflict? Together we'll examine what the Bible says about justice, peace, and the difficult realities of living in a broken world. ginghamsburg.org
Is God Colorblind?
God created every nation, tribe, and language—but does he simply want us to ignore our differences? Scripture paints a richer picture than "I don't see color." This week we'll explore God's heart for justice, reconciliation, and the beautiful diversity that reflects his kingdom. ginghamsburg.org
Must I Leave My Brains at the Door?
Can faith and reason really coexist? In a world that often pits science against Scripture, many assume you have to choose between intellectual honesty and following Jesus. This week we'll explore why Christianity has never asked people to stop thinking—and why asking hard questions can actually deepen faith. ginghamsburg.org
