  • The Story I Wasn’t Ready to Tell | My Testimony of Heartbreak, Faith & Redemption

I don't think I've ever told you the whole story.

I've shared pieces of my life here and there—the heartbreak, the toxic relationship, the waiting, the surrender, the Holy Pause, and the healing.

But I've never sat down and told you how it all started.

So today, I'm telling you the story I wasn't ready to tell before.

I grew up in the Mormon church and spent the first 18 years of my life living inside a very structured world. The day after I graduated high school, I left home ready to experience freedom—and I ran straight into the world.

Drinking. Partying. Wrong crowds. Relationships. Situationships. Searching for something I couldn't quite name.

I tried college twice while working full-time, opened businesses that failed, experienced heartbreak and setbacks, and spent years trying to build a life on my own strength.

Then my sister told me about Jesus.

And slowly, God began taking me on a journey I never could have planned.

I share about my first marriage, the toxic relationship that followed, the years of difficult co-parenting, and the season that nearly broke me.

Then I take you to 2016—the year I had a dream that God was telling me to die to my flesh.

Shortly afterward, I walked to my mailbox and found a dried-up branch sitting beautifully on top of it.

When I picked it up, God brought John 15:5 to my heart:

“I am the vine; you are the branches… apart from me you can do nothing.”

At that point, I was completely broke and standing in a season of stripping.

    And suddenly, I understood.

I couldn't keep trying to be my own source.

    I needed the Vine.

That moment became part of the beginning of a completely different life.

    A life of surrender.

    A life of waiting.

A life of learning who God really was—not just what religion had taught me.

And eventually, after years of waiting and walking with God, came another unexpected chapter: finding my middle-school crush again after more than a decade.

But even that story wasn't simply about finding a man.

    God had been preparing me.

And when He eventually asked me to lay that relationship at the altar too, I learned that even something beautiful has to belong to Him first.

This episode is my story of running, heartbreak, brokenness, surrender, waiting, restoration, and discovering that God had never stopped pursuing me.

And if you're listening from your own messy chapter, I hope you hear this:

    Your story isn't over.

    Maybe you've run from God.

Maybe you've made choices you're not proud of.

Maybe you've been through a toxic relationship.

    Maybe you've lost years.

Maybe you're sitting in the middle of a heartbreak wondering how God could possibly make something beautiful out of what you've been through.

    Girl…

    He can.

Because if He can take my story and redeem it, He can do something with yours too.

You don't have to have it all figured out.

You don't have to clean yourself up before you come to God.

    Come as you are.

He knows exactly where you are.

And He knows how to find you there.

If You're in Your Own Holy Rescue

If you're in the middle of heartbreak, a breakup, a toxic relationship, or simply wondering what God is doing with your life right now, I want you to know this:

God is not finished writing your story.

Your past doesn't get the final word.

Your mistakes don't get the final word.

Your heartbreak doesn't get the final word.

      Jesus does.

And sometimes the greatest rescue isn't God changing your circumstances.

Sometimes it's God changing you in the middle of them.

    • When You Stop Forcing It, Everything Changes | Divine Alignment & God’s Timing

What happens when you finally stop forcing things to happen?

When you stop trying to make the relationship work, force the door open, control the outcome, or figure out every detail of what comes next?

What if that's the moment you finally start seeing what God has been doing all along?

In this episode of Girl, Date the Good Guy, Emily talks about the divine alignment she's experiencing in her own life after a season of healing, surrender, obedience, and waiting on God.

For so long, she thought she had to make things happen.

But God began showing her something different:

If you have to force it, you may be trying to carry something God never asked you to carry.

Emily shares the moment God highlighted the word FORCE for her and how that revelation has changed the way she looks at relationships, opportunities, timing, and the future.

This isn't about sitting around doing nothing.

It's about learning the difference between moving with God and trying to get ahead of Him.

And if you're sitting in heartbreak, coming out of a toxic relationship, recovering from a breakup, or wondering why your life isn't unfolding the way you thought it would...

I want you to hear this:

Your current season is not the end of your story.

You don't have to force the next chapter.

You don't have to chase what God has for you.

You don't have to have every detail figured out before you take the next step.

Sometimes faith looks like opening your hands and saying,

"God, You have the pen. I'll trust You with the story."

Because when you stop forcing it, something beautiful can happen.

You begin to see what God was already putting into place.

You begin to recognize His timing.

      And sometimes...

you realize you weren't watching your life fall apart.

You were watching it come into alignment.

This is your Holy Rescue. 🤍

    • What If Fear Is the Thing Keeping You Stuck? Breaking Free From Toxic Relationships & Heartbreak

Fear can keep you stuck in places God is trying to pull you out of.

In this episode, Emily gets real about the role fear played in her own life—from living in a toxic relationship and being afraid of what would happen if she left, to finally surrendering her fear to God and taking the steps He was asking her to take.

Leaving didn't mean everything instantly became easy. There was uncertainty, financial pressure, anxiety, loss, and a whole lot of learning how to trust God one step at a time.

And even after getting out, Emily discovered that leaving the toxic situation was only the beginning. The trauma, fear, suspicion, control, and survival patterns still needed to be healed.

This is a conversation about what happens when fear follows you into your next season—and why God doesn't just want to change your circumstances. He wants to heal the places inside of you that were shaped by what you've survived.

If you're sitting in heartbreak, coming out of a toxic relationship, afraid to start over, or wondering what you're supposed to do next, this episode is for you.

You don't have to see the whole staircase.

You just have to trust God with the next step.

In this episode, we talk about:

      • How fear can keep you trapped in toxic relationships
      • The fear of leaving and the fear of the unknown
      • Learning to surrender fear to God
      • Taking a leap of faith when you don't have everything figured out
      • Why leaving a toxic relationship doesn't automatically mean you're healed
      • How trauma can follow you into new relationships
      • The importance of healing before stepping into something new
      • God's protection, provision, and guidance
      • Why you don't have to figure out your entire future today
      • What it looks like to trust God with your next step
      • Finding hope after heartbreak and toxic relationships
      • If you're in immediate danger or preparing to leave an abusive relationship, please seek trusted support and make a safety plan. You don't have to do it alone.

      • What If You’re Looking for a Perfect Man Instead of a Good Man? | The Lie of Perfection in Love

What if the man you've been praying for doesn't look exactly like the man you pictured?

What if you've been asking God for a perfect man… when He may be teaching you how to recognize a good man?

Sis, this one is personal for me.

Because I was demanding a perfect man when God gave me a good man.

A man with a heart of gold.

And I had to let God deal with my expectations, my checklist, and my idea of what a man of God was supposed to look like.

In this episode of Girl, Date the Good Guy, we're talking about the lie of perfection in relationships—and what happens when you stop looking for a finished product and start paying attention to posture over perfection.

Because a good man doesn't have to have everything figured out.

        He can still be learning.

        He can still be growing.

        He can still be becoming.

The question isn't whether he's perfect.

        The question is:

        What's his posture toward God?

        Is he teachable?

        Is he willing to grow?

Does he want to know Jesus more?

        Does he take responsibility?

        Is he moving toward Christ?

And here's the part we don't always want to hear…

You don't get to demand a finished man while you're still allowing God to work on you.

Maybe God isn't just using the relationship to grow him.

        Maybe He's growing you, too.

In this episode, we're talking about:

        • Why perfection is an impossible standard

        • The difference between a good man and a perfect man

        • Why posture matters more than perfection

        • Why “unfinished” doesn't automatically mean “wrong”

        • How to recognize a man who is genuinely willing to grow

        • Why you shouldn't date potential—but also shouldn't reject someone simply because he's still growing

        • How God can use relationships to sharpen and grow us

        • What it looks like to surrender your checklist to God

        • Why we need to stop expecting relationships to make us happy and start asking how God may be using them to make us holy

        • And the very real possibility that the woman asking God for a perfect man may still have some growing of her own to do. 😂

          And yes…

there may be a little coffee talk in this one. ☕😂

Because sometimes growth looks like realizing you don't need a perfect man.

You just need a good man with a heart that's turned toward God.

          And personally?

I can't wait to make this man coffee every morning.

          Black?

          A little sugar?

          Creamer?

          Anything for you! 😂

          Holy Reflection

          Ask yourself:

Have I been rejecting imperfect people because I actually expect perfection?

Am I looking at someone's heart and direction, or am I looking at my checklist?

          And one more:

Am I willing to let God work on me just as much as I'm asking Him to work on the person I'm praying for?

This is your Holy Rescue. 🤍

I'll see you next Thursday at 5:00 AM.

        • What If God Says Go Before You’re Ready? Faith, Surrender & Taking the Next Step

What if God is asking you to move… but you don't feel ready?

What if you're standing at the bottom of the staircase, asking God to turn on every light so you can see exactly where you're going?

Sis… that's not how faith works.

In this episode of Girl, Date the Good Guy, we're talking about what it really looks like to trust God when you don't have the whole plan.

We start with Psalm 37:4 and the desires of our hearts—and why delighting in God isn't about treating Him like a genie who gives us everything we want. When we fully surrender our lives to Christ and walk with Him, He begins transforming our hearts and aligning our desires with His.

And that's where faith comes in.

Because sometimes God doesn't give you the whole staircase.

He gives you the next step.

I'll share what I've been learning about having what I call “crazy faith”—including moments when God has asked me to move, release things, and prepare for what's next without knowing exactly how everything would come together.

          We'll talk about:

          • Why faith doesn't require you to see the whole picture
          • Why surrender has to come before the step
          • What Psalm 37:4 really means about the desires of your heart
          • How God begins to align our desires with His as we walk with Him
          • The difference between faith and certainty
          • Why being afraid doesn't mean you don't have faith
          • What Abraham teaches us about going without knowing where you're going
          • Why faith eventually requires movement
          • What to do when God says “go” before you feel ready
          • Why you shouldn't let fear become your GPS
          • How faith applies to your love life, singleness, waiting, and relationships
          • Why you don't need the whole love story to obey God today
          • How to recognize and take your next step
          • And maybe the biggest question of all:

What if the thing you're afraid to step into is actually the place God is taking you?

You don't need to see the whole staircase.

You just need to trust the One who's leading you.

            Scriptures Mentioned

            Psalm 37:4

            Jeremiah 29:11–13
            Proverbs 3:5–6

            Hebrews 11:8

            Holy Reflection

Take some time this week and ask yourself:

What step have I been afraid to take because I don't know what happens after it?

Have I truly surrendered the outcome to God?

          • What If Love Means Letting Go? | The Truth About Holy Love

What if letting go isn’t giving up on love?

What if sometimes, it’s the very thing God uses to teach you what love really is?

Sis, there’s a difference between holding on because God told you to—and holding on because you’re afraid to release what you want.

In this episode of Girl, Date the Good Guy, we’re talking about the uncomfortable truth of Holy Love: sometimes love requires surrender. Not chasing. Not forcing. Not manipulating the outcome. Not trying to make something happen before God’s timing.

Sometimes, you have to open your hand and trust God with what—or who—you’ve been holding so tightly.

We’ll talk about what it really means to love someone without losing yourself, how surrender can reveal what’s actually yours to carry, and why letting go doesn’t always mean the end. Sometimes, it simply means getting out of God’s way.

Because Holy Love doesn’t require you to abandon your standards, your peace, or your relationship with God just to keep someone.

            Scripture:

“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this.” — Psalm 37:5

So grab your coffee, sis, and come sit with me in your Holy Space.

            This is your Holy Rescue.

In this episode, we’ll talk about:

            • The difference between surrendering and giving up

            • Why love cannot be built on chasing or control

            • What happens when you release someone to God

            • How Holy Love protects your peace and your standards

            • Why sometimes the most loving thing you can do is let go

              Holy Reflection

What am I still holding onto that God is asking me to place back in His hands?

This is your Holy Rescue. 🤍

I'll see you next Thursday at 5:00 AM.

            • What If He's Not the Bad Guy? | When Toxic Relationships Distort Good Love

What if the reason you can't recognize good love… isn't because something is wrong with him?

What if your past is still speaking louder than what's happening right in front of you?

              Sis, let's talk about it.

When you've been through a toxic relationship, betrayal, manipulation, heartbreak, or repeated disappointment, it can change the way you see love. You learn to look for the red flag. You question people's motives. You wait for the other shoe to drop.

And sometimes, without even realizing it, you can start looking at a good guy through the lens of a bad relationship.

I know this because I've lived it.

In this episode, I'm getting real about what God has been showing me during my Holy Pause—including the uncomfortable realization that I had been carrying old wounds, expectations, suspicion, and survival patterns into something God was showing me differently.

Sometimes healing isn't just about getting over the person who hurt you.

Sometimes healing is about learning how to see again.

              We're talking about:

              • How toxic relationships can change the way you see love
              • Why heartbreak can make you suspicious of healthy relationships
              • The difference between discernment and fear
              • How trauma from your past can affect the way you receive a good man
              • What happens when God asks you to surrender something you desperately want
              • The battle of the wills and learning to surrender control to God
              • What it means to lay something at the altar and trust God with the outcome
              • Facing the parts of yourself that still need healing
              • Why God sometimes has to heal you before you're ready to hold what you've been praying for
              • Learning to release expectations, control, and the need to fix everything
              • Why you don't have to understand God's process to trust Him
              • And we're getting into the real question:

What if God brings you good love… but your past has trained you to expect bad love?

Because sis, you don't want to spend your life making a good man pay for what a bad one did.

You don't want your heartbreak to become your identity.

And you don't want your trauma to become your discernment.

                There is healing available.

There is peace on the other side of surrender.

And sometimes God has to heal the lens before you can clearly see what's standing in front of you.

                📖 Scripture

                Proverbs 3:5–6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…”

Sometimes you don't get the explanation first.

Sometimes you get the invitation to trust.

This is your Holy Rescue. 🤍

              • Boundaries Are Holy | Christian Dating, Red Flags & Knowing Your Worth

Sis… being a Christian does not mean being a doormat.

And I know somebody needed to hear that.

In this episode of Girl, Date the Good Guy, we’re talking about boundaries—and what it actually looks like to love people without allowing them to disrespect you.

Because yes, we are called to love.

Yes, we are called to forgive.

Yes, we are called to extend grace.

But grace does not mean giving people unlimited access to you.

And boundaries don't mean you're becoming cold, bitter, or unforgiving.

Sometimes a boundary is simply saying:

                “This doesn't work for me.”

And then having the courage to stand behind it.

I'm getting real about my own journey from “Spicy Emily” to learning how to contain my fire. 😂 I've had to learn how to stop people-pleasing, speak up, communicate when something isn't okay, take accountability when I'm wrong, and stop trying to fix people who aren't willing to do the work themselves.

We're talking about why accountability and communication are essential in relationships, why you can be kind and still have a backbone, and what happens when you've communicated clearly but someone continues to cross the line.

Because sometimes loving someone means having the hard conversation.

And sometimes loving them means stepping back and putting them at the altar instead of trying to play Holy Spirit in their life.

We'll also talk about what Jesus teaches us about boundaries, how He walked away from situations that weren't His assignment, and why holiness does not require you to tolerate disrespect.

                And yes...

I'm telling you about my recent bakery encounter because apparently God decided I needed a real-life boundaries test. 😂

                Spoiler alert:

Old Emily wanted to “punch-throat” somebody.

New Emily used her words and went to management.

                Growth, baby.

                That's growth.

And finally, we're bringing this into Christian dating—because when you know your worth, you start looking at red flags differently.

You stop making excuses for disrespect.

You stop confusing potential with character.

You stop trying to rescue grown men.

And you start paying attention to how someone responds when you communicate a boundary.

You don't need a perfect man.

You need a man who can communicate, take accountability, apologize, grow, and love you with the same gentleness and respect you're willing to give him.

                Because, sis...

                you are gold.

You don't have to become hard to protect your heart.

You just have to learn how to stand.

In this episode, we're talking about:
                • Why being kind doesn't mean accepting disrespect
                • The difference between boundaries and control
                • People-pleasing and learning to use your voice
                • Communication and accountability in relationships
                • Why you can't keep trying to fix grown people
                • What it means to lay someone at the altar
                • Jesus and biblical boundaries
                • How to handle disrespect without losing your character
                • What our daughters learn by watching how we handle conflict
                • Christian dating, red flags, and knowing your worth
                • Why healthy love requires mutual respect and accountability
                • Boundaries are holy.

                  Go get you some. ❤️

                  Scripture

Luke 4:28–30 — Jesus walked through the crowd and went on His way.

Matthew 10:14 — Jesus instructed His disciples to leave when they were not welcomed or received and shake the dust from their feet.
