Today, we are honored to have with us Professor Heze Chen, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics. Prof Chen holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering at Zhejiang University of Technology and earned both their M.S. and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at UVA. With a passion for structural modeling and simulation, machine learning, and composite mechanics, Prof Chen brings a wealth of expertise to the fields of applied mathematics, civil engineering, and computer science. In today’s podcast episode, we’ll delve into Prof Chen’s journey as a professor, exploring pivotal moments and key challenges that have shaped their career. We’ll also dive into his research, gaining insights into the intersection of applied mathematics and CS.
