A WEEK (DAY 7), STEADY GRINDING🥱
Still on steemhop
Day 7 and I’m still here. Same game, same grind, same little chicken trying to cross tracks that never end. It’s called steady grinding for a reason because nothing about this is flashy anymore. I’m not hyped, I’m not mad, I’m just tapping and dodging like it’s a job now. http://steemhop.org has been open on my phone all week and my screen time is ridiculous. I told myself I’d just play for a bit on day 1 and now it’s day 7 and I’m counting cars and trains in my sleep. The score keeps going up, then I die to something stupid, then I start again. That’s the loop.
The runs today felt like muscle memory. You hop once, wait for the purple train, then the red car comes from the left and you gotta time it perfectly. I got to 40 earlier and I thought I was finally breaking my PB but then I got greedy near the water and clipped a log. 40 to 0 just like that. That’s steemhop for you. It doesn’t care if it’s day 1 or day 7. The tracks don’t get easier, the cars don’t slow down, and the chicken still moves the same. I keep telling myself “just one more good run” and then 20 minutes are gone. My thumb actually hurts but I’m not stopping. Not on day 7.
People don’t get why I’m still on this game. It looks simple. Isometric view, orange desert, some trees, a river, and that little white chicken with the red hat. But the timing is everything. You mess up one hop and you’re watching the STEEM HOP screen again. I’ve died to trains, to cars, to my own bad jumps, to the barriers with the red lights. I’ve even died with 1:40 left on the timer because I panicked. The leaderboard says TOP 52 and I’m nowhere near it yet. But day by day I’m getting closer. That’s what steady grinding is. No big jumps, just 1 point better, 2 points better, then boom you hit 38.
What keeps me here is that it’s just me vs me now. There’s no team, no scripted AI comeback, no excuses. If I die it’s because I tapped too early or I wasn’t patient. I’ve learned the spawns. I know when the purple cars come in pairs and when to wait for the train to clear two lanes at once. I’ve started recognizing the sound cues too. That little ding when you collect something, the horn before the train hits. It’s in my head now. Seven days of this and I can close my eyes and still see the lanes. My friends laughed when I said I’d do a week straight. They said I’d get bored. I’m bored and I’m still playing. That’s the point.
So yeah, day 7 done. Steady grinding🥱 is real. I’m tired, I’m stuck on the same score range, and I still haven’t cracked top 52. But I’m not deleting the tab. Tomorrow is day 8 and I’ll be back on steemhop again, same chicken, same desert, same grind. Maybe I’ll finally hit 50. Maybe I’ll die at 12 again. Either way I’m not quitting mid-week. The whole point was to see if I could stick with something for 7 days straight and I did. Now let’s see what day 8 looks like.
