September is sickle cell month in the UK to raise awareness, but awareness must be given daily at any opportunity. As you might know and will learn from this episode, sickle cell is an inherited health condition that affects red blood cells, which can be life-threatening if not treated promptly. Some people with the illness may need blood donation to survive, which is why it is essential for people, especially those from (the black and Caribbean community) who can, to donate to support the sickle cell society.

Episode 7: We discussed the importance of learning your native language and the struggles you might encounter when you move to a different country and have to learn their language. Being multilingual is a fantastic thing and helps in having access to many sectors and workplaces. If you get an opportunity to learn something new, like a language, don’t double-think and take it !

In this episode, I had a one-to-one candidate conversation with a black woman, wife, and mother who courageously defines herself as a “lupus warrior”. She shared how lupus impacts her life and how she doesn’t allow this health condition to defeat her. I was humbled to have Sarah on my platform. I had the pleasure to talk about women’s mental health with two outstanding experts @mssft_. We discussed different mental health problems women may face due to reasons such as societal pressure. We looked at how black people deal with and take care of their mental health and emphasised why it is essential to have these kinds of conversations to enable awareness and educate people. In this episode, my guests, of whom one was previously a law student and two current, share their thoughts and opinions about a GH Youtuber/Law student (Ama Governor) whose call to the Bar was put on hold. The hold was due to a Ghanaian citizen’s complaint of misconduct letter sent to the chief of justice of the Republic of Ghana. The citizen claims in this letter that Ama Governor as a law student, had breached the code of conduct for students at the Ghana School of Law and, therefore, lacks a good character to become a lawyer in Ghana.

Furthermore, my guests share their experiences as law students in the UK by highlighting thematics, such as challenges they have faced individually as black female aspiring lawyers.
