Rhythms of Transition

Giving Grief a Place to Land: Practical Tools for Processing Loss in Transition - Part 1

Listen Later

Grief often feels like waves that keep coming long after a transition has occurred. Many of us know we need to process our losses, but we’re not always sure how.

In this episode of Rhythms of Transitions, we begin a two-part conversation about practical ways to help grief move rather than remain stuck beneath the surface of our lives. These are not quick fixes or techniques to make grief disappear. Instead, they are thoughtful, time-tested practices that create space for loss to be acknowledged and processed with care.

In Part 1, we explore two foundational tools:

Naming the Losses – learning to identify the specific things we have lost so grief has somewhere to attach rather than remaining vague and heavy.

Setting Aside Bounded Time for Grief – creating intentional space to engage with grief in a way that feels contained and manageable.

These practices invite us to move from simply surviving grief to learning how to live with it — allowing it to flow through us and gradually make room for healing and new life.

If you’ve been carrying losses from a recent or past transition, this episode offers a gentle place to begin.
