Every January the world stops to hear a State of the Union Address, but Psalm 2 is something greater: God's own State of the Nations Address, and He is not seeking our approval of it. In it we hear four voices in turn: the nations raging against God's rule, the Father answering from a throne He has never left, the Son declaring the decree that made Him King, and the Spirit extending a summons that is mercy wearing the clothes of a warning. This sermon walks from the conspiracy to the laughter of heaven to the coronation to the one question that remains: what do you do with a King you cannot outrun and cannot overthrow? The answer is the sentence the whole psalm was written to give you: there is no refuge from the Son; there is only refuge in the Son.

The writer of Hebrews sums up his word of admonition. He talks about obligation in the church. He talks about prayer he mentions giving to others in need. But his main point is that God in Christ has granted us an eternal mindset of peace. A peace that is beyond understanding. Not a peaceful easy feeling but one that has an eternal perspective for this peace is a peace that most of the world does not understand. He closes this epistle reminding his readers that God has equipped us to live and have our being in Christ and Christ alone.

Beloved in the Lord Jesus: The world longs for what you have but they can't have it. You have God – not an abstract, distant God – but a God who loves and cherishes you, a God who blesses you and keeps you… a God who gives you what he wishes…and none can stop him… and none can take what he gives you… This was the same God who was in charge of Jacob's life and his God showed it… Laban tried to limit Jacob, but God blessed him tremendously and multiplied his animals. But Satan and his children never stop trying to hurt God's cause. Hear today what Satan's children continued to do to hurt Jacob, but how Jacob and his heavenly Father worked for success in his earthly mission. Our headings are: 1. Laban's Sons Reproved Jacob 2. Jacob Reassured his Wives 3. God Required Jacob to Return Home Our goals are: You will learn to block out the world's noise, you will listen to the voice of God and his assurances, and you will be ready to keep fighting for the kingdom of Jesus.

We are born in bondage to sin, in which the Blood of Christ, His death on the cross purchased our freedom. He has set us free from sin, in which it use to be able to reign in our bodies, But now it has no longer any power over us but that we allow. Jesus imputed His righteousness to us justifying us placing us in right standing with God, our sins where atoned for in Him. He purchased (redeemed) us giving us eternal life.

The next set of "good things" we are going to examine are the soul comforts that are ours because of the working of our great High Priest, Jesus. He has imparted to us Justification through his efficient sacrifice, as well as giving us the power to live out His life… but today we are going to think about how the life of Christ in us produces the comforts that we all so desperately need! About how Jesus' life is poured out into us who are HIS.

Hebrews 8:1–6 teaches that Jesus Christ is the perfect High Priest who ministers in the true heavenly sanctuary, not in an earthly tabernacle made by human hands. Unlike the priests of the old covenant, whose ministry was temporary and symbolic, Jesus' priesthood is eternal and complete. This reminds believers that our relationship with God is now founded on a better High Priest who continually intercedes for us. Through Him, we have direct access to God's presence, giving us confidence, hope, and assurance that His work of salvation is fully sufficient. The passage also emphasizes that Jesus is the mediator of a better covenant established on better promises. The old covenant pointed people toward God's plan of redemption, but the new covenant fulfills that plan through Christ. God's promises now include complete forgiveness of sins, a transformed heart, and an enduring relationship with Him. As believers, we are called to trust in these better promises, live faithfully under Christ's leadership, and rejoice in the certainty that His covenant offers lasting grace, peace, and eternal life.
