Brian Larson wrote, “The Christian walk is much like riding a bicycle; we are either moving forward or falling off.” This necessity of growing in our Christian faith will be the focus of Pastor Kevin’s message, The Privilege of Re-birth, this weekend. As those who have been born again, we have been granted both spiritual privilege and responsibility. 

In a culture flooded with competing ideologies and emerging philosophies, the Church must be grounded in the truth that is “according to Christ.” Despite the absurdity of paying homage to empty and impotent ideals, our culture is doing just that, cheated by these worldly philosophies and paying a great price. 

Paul’s urgent warning to the Colossians regarding the dangerous delusion of doctrinal truth has never been more relevant than it is today. Being keenly aware of the tactics of Satan to corrupt the church’s doctrine, adequately prepared to resist his ploys, consistently engaged in the development of doctrinal safeguards, and embracing corrective measures to address the delusion are all crucial to the health and growth of the contemporary American church. In this message, Pastor Kevin preaches from Colossians 2:1-7, the message A Dangerous Delusion.

Psalm 1 is about two men, or two types of people - the righteous man who lives for God’s glory and the wicked man who lives for His own pleasure. In this sermon, Pastor Clayton unpacks these two ways and their very different outcomes.

C.S. Lewis, in The Problem of Pain said this— “To ask that God's love should be content with us as we are is to ask that God should cease to be God...” Paul did not want the Colossian believers to become satisfied with their present spiritual condition and so “struggling with all his energy” he taught and warned them of the need to mature in Christ (Colossians 1:28-29). Vishal Mangalwadi, Christian scholar from India once said, “Secularism acquired the ‘truth’ brand by default because evangelicalism began defining the Church’s mission as (just) cultivating faith, not (also) promoting knowledge of truth.” In the church’s attempt to emphasize the role of faith we have forsaken our responsibility to become the “pillar and ground of truth” (1 Timothy 3:15).  In this sermon, Pastor Kevin continues his series, Jesus at the Center and outlines the three principles of The Gospel Truth that we must unashamedly proclaim.

The wise author wrote, “Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established; By knowledge the rooms are filled With all precious and pleasant riches” (Proverbs‬ ‭24:3-4‬.) The Apostle Paul said that in the last days, “perilous times will come” (2 Timothy 3:1). One of the great perils of our day is the cultural attack on the family. For this Mother's Day, Pastor Kevin unpacks the words of the proverbial writer and outlines three crucial principles to cultivating A Godly Home in a Troubled Time.

In part two of Firstborn Over Both Creations, Pastor Kevin’s message from Colossians 1:15-20, we will learn how Christ, through His resurrection made public His eternally held status of preeminent Son of God and revealed Himself to be the fulness of God in whom we find the answer to every need and the assurance of being made right with God.

Bible scholar N.T. Wright aptly writes, “Indeed it is only in Jesus Christ that we understand what divinity and humanity really mean.”  Pastor Kevin continues his series from Colossians with part one of the message, Christ—The Firstborn Over Both Creations and begins to explore how only in Christ can we truly understand who God IS and who God meant US to be, how everything and everyone owes their existence to Christ, and how all that is brought into existence by Christ is held together by Him as well.

Pastor Kevin completes the opening message from his series from Colossians, Jesus at the Center, by outlining the definitive and unchanging parameters of the Christian faith that is rooted and grounded in Christ.  We will learn that Biblical Christianity is a practical, understandable, and living faith that should engage the culture while at the same time revealing God’s will for the world through the work of His Son—Jesus Christ!
