When it comes to God, it's important to keep it real.

One of the major reasons people give for not believing in Jesus is that "there are so many hypocrites out there."   If hypocrisy bothers atheists, think of how much it bothers God, since he is the one being misrepresented.  Don't let a hypocrite, or your own hypocrisy, keep you out of heaven.  The more familiar we are with the real deal, the less likely we are to fall for the fake.

In a needy world, we need to learn how to meet our own needs and the needs of others from the unlimited resources of God rather than the limited resources of humanity.   

Sometimes the things that we groan through are the things we've grown through.

Many people find themselves constantly pulled in every direction.  I call it the "miserable middle."   Don't let yourself have "too much of the Lord to really enjoy the world and too much of the world to really enjoy the Lord."  God is the anchor on the winning side and it makes sense to choose him before you get to the end of your rope.

When I was young, my mom used to wake me up by turning on the light and saying "rise and shine, it's morning time."   For me it was mourning time, because I didn't want to get up.  Now that I'm grown and she's gone, I am thankful for a parent who didn't let me sleep through life.  It's time to arise.  It's time to shine.  And the most exciting part of getting older is watching young people step in as we step out.
