Dr Steven Adelsheim is the Director of the Stanford Center for Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing in the Department of Psychiatry. He has had decades of experience in the development and implementation of early detection and intervention programs for young people in school-based and primary care settings, including programs for depression, anxiety and psychosis.

Notably, Dr Adelsheim pioneered the allcove program, an innovative network of integrated youth mental health centers based off the headspace model of mental health early intervention founded in Australia. Designed with, by and for youths, allcove strives to reduce stigma, promote mental wellness, increase community connection and provide access to culturally-responsive services for young people ages 12-25.

Dr Susheela Balasundaram is the Head of the Public Health Unit at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Malaysia, more widely known as UNHCR. She started working with refugees 20 years ago as a volunteer providing mobile primary care services for them. She has worked with Doctors without Borders, and has served in 2 refugee emergencies - in Uganda in 2014 for the South Sudan conflict and in 2017- Cox’s Bazar Bangladesh. In the face of the covid 19 pandemic and the protracted crises of our world, Dr Susheela has been a fearless, vocal advocate for the rights of people forced to flee. Dr Joanne Liu is a accomplished multi-award winner in the field of humanitarian medicine. She served as the International President of Doctors Without Borders from 2013 - 2019, and has served in the organisation since 1996. With a wealth of experience serving in conflict zones -  Palestine, Central African Republic and Sudan’s Darfur region, it was nothing short of an honour to have her on Morning Rounds. Trained in pediatrics, she also has an international master's in health leadership from McGill university. Born and raised in Turkmenistan, Dr Akjemal has dedicated the past 20 years of her career to international humanitarian aid and development. Prior to her new assignment in Syria, Dr Akjemal was WHO Representative in Oman, where she achieved significant goals within WHO’s “Health for All” vision. Dr Akjemal also served as Deputy Head and Emergency Coordinator of WHO’s Office in Yemen and held several posts in WHO’s South-East Asia Region, where she covered both development and humanitarian programmes. She holds an MPH from John Hopkins, MSc from London school of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, as well as an MA from Tufts University. Dr Jayant is the founder of The Vision Mission, a non-profit which aims to eradicate blindness world-wide and bring free, high-quality healthcare to all individuals. Since its inception in 2014, it has organised over 1000 free cataract surgeries for the needy across Western Ordisha. Based in Singapore, Dr Jayant is also an esteemed cataract and glaucoma surgeon at the Singapore National Eye Centre, an award-winning researcher and educator with a storng passion for global health.
