The World Telehealth Initiative was founded on the basis of “revolutionizing global healthcare by providing quality medical expertise where and when it is needed.” They partner with InTouch Health (currently being acquired by Teledoc) by providing virtual care device donations in parallel with physician volunteers to provide services around the world.

Sharon was not always immersed in the field of healthcare. In fact, before she became a leader for WTI, she was the CEO of a 9 branch landscape distributor company. Crazy different, right? Welcome to episode #5 of the podcast! On this episode, we speak with Beau Schmaltz. Beau and I met during a trip to Honduras with a nonprofit called Humanity and Hope United. It was during one morning at a baleadas cafe that I learned that he was a chemical engineer with a passion for service. Through his current work at a company called POET, a leader in the sustainable energy industry, he became involved with a nonprofit called Seeds of Change.

Seeds of Change focuses on alleviating poverty in low resource settings through power of education and agriculture. They do this by focusing on three pillars: Mission Hope, Mission Grow, and Mission Breathe.

During this episode, we speak about how Seeds of Change was founded. We also speak on why honest leadership is so important in the areas non-profits partner with to create a sustainable change. We also speak about how most times it's important to build lasting relationships with the families you serve before working on tangible solutions.

Welcome to episode #3 of the podcast! On this episode, we speak with Yuliya Labko. She's a certified nurse/midwife and public health nurse in the United States. She currently works in upstate NY and provides midwifery services and care to women throughout their lifespan. She is very passionate about advocating for maternal health, addressing maternal mortality, and continuing the advancement of midwives in the United States. She uses her platform at March for Moms to advocate and spread awareness of the issues within maternal mortality.

March for Moms is a nonprofit with a mission to align the diverse voices of families, healthcare providers, policymakers, and partners to advocate for mothers and families health, well being and equal access to care.

We talk about the common misconceptions many americans have around midwifery services, how many other developed countries (Level 3 and 4) that employ midwifes rank much better in maternal mortality, and much more.

"Just look at the statistics. There are 40 Million people who are trafficked...and I just thought to myself. What are the chances that I would know someone?"

For this episode, I was able to connect with an old college friend of mine, Stacey Kurian. It’s so amazing how many old and new friends you can connect with just by starting a podcast! I’m loving it! Stacey and I both went to RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) to study engineering. She now has a degree in Civil Engineering and works for a construction firm in Duchess County, NY.

Stacey first learned about human trafficking when someone from the organization Love146 gave a talk about modern day child slavery. This opened her eyes to horrors that happen throughout the world even in the modern times we live in. Today, she is a active advocate to end human trafficking around the world by wearing a dress and empowering others to do the same. YOU can do anything in a dress.

She has over 15 years of branding and marketing experience and has over a decade of international work! She is currently the Director of Communications for La Pointe Foundation - a non-profit charity that develops locally sustainable solutions in the areas of Healthcare, Education, and Entrepreneurship.

I first learned of Callie when I was browsing my Instagram feed and saw an organization pop up by the name of La Pointe Foundation. At the time they had about 50 followers on the instagram page and I thought that they may be a start up non-profit. I later found out that they were founded in 2016 by a husband and wife duo - Caleb and Charlotte Whitmore. With love in their hearts and a desire to make a difference, they created La Pointe Foundation.
