Twitter has delivered its first ever quarterly profit, off the back of better than expected revenue. The social media giant now has 330 million monthly active users and attributes the growth to better ad targeting and higher video ad sales. Its stock surged 25% on the news of its profit turnaround. US growth slowed unexpectedly in the fourth quarter. GDP grew by 2.6%, down from the previous quarter's 3.2%, weighed down by a sharp rise in imports. A bumper data diary this week could confirm 2017 as the euro zone's best year in over a decade and add more pressure to the soaring single european currency. For dollar traders, the direction of travel could persist in the opposite direction, as US markets brace for Friday's non-farm payrolls release.
