Port Hardy, a small town on the northern tip of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada has been experiencing a fierce war with suicide. Over the past two weeks there has been a death every day – 95% are First Nations. These deaths are believed to be caused either by suicide or drugs laced with fentanyl. It is important to know that this region has had at least three revivals in its history – but now they are in a state of emergency. We know also that this is not a lone case in Canada or the United States. The epidemic is worldwide and growing. Thus, this call for a situation room.
