Welcome back to Gloom Gals! Sorry for the posting delay--we've decided to change to a biweekly posting schedule since our horror hoe decided to go back to school. We're also adjusting to a new mic, so please excuse the occasional rustling! This week, we're talking about a cultural cornerstone: Carrie, another Stephen King classic. We talk about the disappearance of tampon dispensers in public restrooms, Kate blows Amoreena's mind with some biblical knowledge, and Amoreena has to do a quick Google search to determine if Carrie is a grown-up Matilda or if Matilda is just Carrie for kids.
Carrie, directed by Brian de Palma, 1976.

Welcome back to Gloom Gals! We've missed you all since season 1, but we are ready to roll with our start to season 2. We've decided that we're theme girls now, so this season we're focusing on Horror Classics! We talk about what a classic means to us, Amoreena tries to clarify confusing similar titles, and Kate giggles over the Skeleton who is credited as playing himself.
House on Haunted Hill, 1959. Directed by William Castle.

Happy end of 2021! As promised, here's the prettier audio for our season finale.
We finally get to a zombie movie, Amoreena goes a little bit ACAB, and Kate talks about the switch in her head that flips off when it comes to zombie gore. We’ll see you all again in 2022 (and with an even better mic)!
Dawn of the Dead, 2004. Directed by Zack Snyder.

Merry Christmas, ghouls and gals! We're hitting one of the very first slashers this week with Black Christmas. It's a disturbing classic, and we can't wait to hear what you think! We admit to a problematic favorite character, Amoreena has a full-blown crisis over how telephones work, and Kate laments the fact that this is the first Christmas movie that she's seen in 2021.

Welcome back! Today we take on (what Amoreena is AGAIN calling her favorite horror movie) Insidious! We make an announcement about our upcoming timeline (season 1 ends December 26th!), Kate decides at what age a child transforms from a .5 child to a full child, and Amoreena proposes yet another thought experiment to test your partner.
Insidious, 2010. Directed by James Wan.

Welcome back to Glooms Gals! Trigger warning for some mention of sexual assault (by trees? but still more graphic than necessary). Today, we're talking about The Evil Dead. We have too much to say to fit in all of our timestamp warnings (don't worry, we've got them in the show notes!), Amoreena proposes another thought experiment to test Kate's love, and Kaitlyn doesn't shut up about Evil Dead the Musical.
The Evil Dead, 1981. Directed by Sam Raimi.

Welcome to another long one, folks! Today we're tackling The Fourth Kind, our first alien scary movie! While it may not be the best horror film ever made, we still enjoyed it and clearly had a lot to talk about. We kinda go on a tangent or two about early humans, Amoreena shares why exactly this movie is genuinely scary to her, and Kate tries to explain what the Rosetta Stone is (incorrectly, by the way).

Welcome back, ghouls and gals! This week we're covering another one of Amoreena's favorites (favorite FRANCHISE, rather than standalone movie). We talk about cheesy 2000s horror, Amoreena shares some strong opinions about her favorite of the series, and Kate worries about becoming a horror movie puppet stuffed with Amoreena's opinions.
Final Destination, 2000. Directed by James Wong.

Hello! We want to start off this episode with a pretty solid trigger warning: Midsommar talks a lot about suicide, so we have to talk about it too. We've decided to be a little more flexible with our spoiler-y discussions, Amoreena talks about how this movie actually gave her nightmares, and Kate feels very conflicted about whether we got a happy ending or not for our final girl.
Midsommar, 2019. Directed by Ari Aster.
