Josephine Hughes is back with the second series of Gloriously Unready.
After sharing her story of becoming a mum to two transgender daughters, she's now exploring what it's like to be transgender in a world that in many ways is not ready for you?
And how can you ever be ready to tell the people that you love, that you are not what they think you are?
Each of the six guests in this series share their own stories of coming out both to themselves and to others. You'll hear them describe the impact on them and their families and their thoughts on the decision they made to be honest with themselves and with their loved ones.
And along the way you'll also hear how their perspective on gender is something that challenges us all to think more deeply about the assumptions we make about each other.
The new series will start on Monday 26th June 2023 and episodes will come out daily!

It doesn't matter how hard you try, you will make mistakes as a parent.
The natural thing is to want to go back in time and fix those mistakes. But if you did manage that, you'd only make a different set of mistakes. We're all human and as humans we are fallible.
In this episode Josephine talks about some of the mistakes she made when her children came out as transgender and also the mistakes that she made in her thinkin in her Christian faith.

When you're a parent, your ultimate goal is to keep your child safe.
You want them to be safe and you want them to be happy.
And when your kids come out as transgender, one of the things you can really worry about is the changes that they might make as part of transitioning, and in particular, the medical changes and the surgical changes are a worry.
So how do you manage to support your children through something that perhaps you might not choose for them yourself?

When Josephine's two daughters began to transition to a new identity she found she was also examining her identity and who she was too.
The process of change and letting go can sometimes be an emotional roller coaster with everything fine one moment and the next you're upset by things you thought were ok.
You're also having to field other people's attitudes, and other people's questions, and sometimes, to be quite frank, other people's ignorance.
Josephine shares how she has found a new normal for her and her family.

One of the things you have to navigate when your children come out as transgender is your own thoughts and feelings about what being transgender is.
In this episode Josephine describes her feelings around why her children were transgender an what this meant for her.
And also how that sense of her daughters coming out being something enormous and something unusual meant that it was difficult for her to tell people.
But when she did tell people, their responses were just what she needed.
