Podsmead, in Gloucester, is getting a multi-million pounds facelift.  The regneneration project has started and will revitalise the area over the next few years.  Podsmead has suffered from years of under-investment and social problems.  But that's already changing.

GL Communities runs a unique project at the Gloucester motorway service station on the M5.  Our growing project is a collaboration between the charity and Westmoreland, which operates the services; Westmoreland is committed to supporting the area in which it is based by employing local people, sourcing produce from within a thirty mile radius and donating part of its profits to the community.

The Growing Project gives volunteers an opportunity to work outdoors and to nurture plants and food.

We are a social animal and we need spaces to meet and share experiences.  The Phoenix Community Centre, in Gloucester's Matson Lane, is a vital resource.  The Phoenix is home to a whole range of projects; digital inclusion, wellbeing, knit and natter,  Looking Out for Others' Potential, a community shed and many more.
