Over half of the world believes in religions emanating from the Dead Sea Scrolls (Table 1). Sometimes people switch religions and other folks only partly assimilate the teachings into their lives. Because loving release of all people and things is central to healing, there is no place in the healing community for hate speech toward anyone. Religious and Spiritual Problems in the Field of Psychiatry

In 1994, the American Psychiatric Association published the DSM-IV, reconceptualizing religious and spiritual problems as a separate V-code 62.89 that could explain symptoms.1 This is significant for two reasons. First, it medicalized and pathologized spiritual and religious problems. Second, it placed spiritual and religious problems right next to mainstream psychiatric disorders on a differential diagnosis, allowing a clinician a choice between one or the other.

The field of medicine and psychiatry both seek to offer effective, compassionate care to all peoples regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion or creed. It has been a privilege to offer compassionate, holistic care to patients from all walks of life since I took the Hippocratic Oath in 2003.

National standardized board exams have at least one “Religious Problem” question on the multiple-choice questions along the pathway to becoming a board-certified psychiatrist. There was little to no training from mainstream medicine into ancient healing practices, however. The risk is that psychiatrists would diagnose a spiritual experience as a psychiatric condition, further confounding things for the patient. If the patient has a spiritual experience, it may be comforting but it may be terrifying depending on a whole host of different circumstances.

I’ve never used V-code 62.89, but I regularly engage convesations about any ancestral healing modalities. This podcast is my attempt to improve communication between doctors and patients. What follows is an outline of common history.

Prophecies Confirmed by Carbon-Dating

The Dead Sea Scrolls (DSS) are a collection of over 25,000 fragments comprising the remains of about 1,000 ancient manuscripts found in various sites in the Judean Desert mostly between 1947 and the 1960s.2 These documents were validated by modern carbon-dating, giving undeniable archeological evidence supporting that hundreds of the ancient prophecies have already come true.

For a prophecy to be true, it is expected that event take place in plain sight of all the people. Ancient prophets were serious business. The prophets were killed for any mistakes. A few were outcast, but most were advisors to kings and world leaders.

The Canon of Scripture

The "canon" refers to the 66 books that were selected to be in the Bible combining the Old and New Testaments. They were selected because the prophecies and cross-references are all internally consistent with each other. They have different author perspectives, of course, and the books' authorship dates are spread out over 1,500 years at least. With enough study bibles and bible studies, it is possible to learn all of the pieces necessary to prove this consistency to yourself. I highly recommend you take the time to do that as early in life as possible. For a fascinating way to get started with prophecy, I highly recommend Beth Moore's presentation of the Book of Daniel. My esoteric friends will be curious to learn that the Archangel Michael can only be in one place at a time.

Modern "Religious Problems"

The field of psychiatry contains clinical evaluations of people at all stages of life, including times of deep excitement or deep sorrow related to religion. Divorce, followed by trauma within the religion itself, are pretty typical. They come to our offices in tears of sadness and joy that are profound. They look to us for guidance even if we're not familiar with their religion. Please be patient with a psychiatrist from a different religion from you. In general, we are trained to diagnose that a religious or spiritual problem is occurring and to refer you to the proper religious or spiritual leader. Give them a chance to impress you with their professionalism. If they don't, book a Mindshift Assessment with me immediately. Eighty-nine percent of Christians haven't read the bible. The book of Psalms has wonderfully relaxing passages, providing solid comfort for millions over millenea.

In 2003, 54% of pastors endorsed viewing porn. In 2024, 86% of pastors say pornography is a problem among pastors.

The King James bible translation was written at a 12th-Grade reading level. Bill Combs writes a nice article about how it should have embarrassed the evil king that an 11-page disclaimer was written by the translators that were forced to work with enethical rules of translation.

The New King James Bible was further dumbed down to a 7th-Grade reading level.

I prefer to study a Chronological Bible and I would love to host a bible study if you're interested to keep each other accountable. The history has been watered down and obfuscated over the millennia by bygone government fact-checkers.3-6 I think the main way history gets lost is by putting the books out of order. The books in the bible are not in chronological order so, if anyone were reading it, generations might miss the absolutely most crucial piece of world history - hundreds of prophecies have come true.

About the Author: Catholic, Protestant, & Satanist, Oh My!

My religious background includes the earliest memories of Catholic masses with my grandparents. I was in the Lutheran church in elementary school around the years of my traumas. Abuse and frustration occured as a teenager and, despite the grace of a YMCA child daycare manager, I turned to Satan briefly at age 15. I sobered up at age 19 and rededicated my life to Jesus Christ at John Osteen's original Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. That's when they used to pray for you to receive the Holy Spirit after every alter call. I studied the New Testament and had a few hundred pages of notes before joining the Army two years later in 1993.

For over a year prior to joining the Army the first time, I attended a Full Gospel Pentecostal-Style church in South Houston, Texas with Pastor Roy Love. He said “There’s healing in the presence of the Lord” and I felt something quicken in my chest and grab my attention. I strongly thought that the pastor was right and I decided right then to keep attending. They spoke in tongues, sang, danced and got slain in the Spirit like you see on TV. I participated in effective healings at age 20. I'm 53 now and, as a Master Healer, I think so fondly of Pastor Love's simple wisdom. He was right. It's the very presense of the Lord that replaces the trauma residue from our bodies. The discovery of a real spiritual life was the only way to make sense of some paranormal experiences I had had already by age 19, but more about that later on.

My faith came to life in many ways during the 1997 humanitarian mission to Benin, Africa. It changed my life enough to cause me to pursue the field of medicine in the first place and I made a documentary about it (MEDFLAG 97-1).

The biggest reason this Texan became so diverse is because at the age of 21 my first duty assignment in the U.S. Army was Germany in 1993. This was two years after the Berlin wall came down and we could see the bullet holes on all of their buildings on the East side. I wrote my own notebook on a History of Isreal while stationed overseas and attended a German-speaking church. I had two years of remote duty and did not speak the language or have any real military support in-person. I didn't even know how to buy vegetables at the grocery store.

Visiting the place where Anne Frank died in the Netherlands, Bergen Belsen, really hit me hard. I earned the German Studies Certificate from the University of Maryland while I was stationed in Germany. That is where I leared about how the Nazi movement subjugated progressive causes and created the world's largest killing machine without the knowledge of the people paying for it.

Today, we're talking to the serious cannabis user. The hippies were right! Since the 1960's, we've studied the human protein Anandamide is chemically similar to THC in marijuana. The endocannabinoid system is central to homeostasis in the body, including our brain's internal healing apparatus.

And the stoners are so happy the science has backed up what the hippies already knew.

Here's the Bad News

There are toxins that have worked their way in through industrialized methods that may be worsening your brain health.

Elevated levels of lead and cadmium have been found in the blood of legal cannabis users getting thier cannabis from dispensaries.1

Popcorn lung and other diseases come from vaping cartriges.2

There are no scientifically valid studies that control for the hazards of combustible materiel (like cancer).

The Healthiest Approaches I've Found: Food for Thought

Totally organic. I've only found this at Maggie's Farms in Colorado wins lots of awards. (When I was in Missouri, I should have asked my local dispensary to carry that for me. Instead, I grew it myself and you can learn to grow Cannabis yourself too.)

Edibles preferred due to no burning papers or other combustible material.

None to minimal butane exposure from lighters.

Rosin, paste, concentrate without any chemical processing. Plant presses squeeze out the paste.

Partially Health Approaches I've Found

Water bong with ice cubes in the tube to cool the sides, keeping it very clean.

Freeze Pipe stays frozen in the freezer, keeping it cool on the lungs. The spiral pattern causes some debris to stick to the sides and not be inhaled. It's nice to have a second one so one is always cold. Mine was easy to rinse out with just water. The toxic cleaning chemicals they recommend are not necessary.

Cigarrettes/joints act as their own filter pretty well until they are more than half-smoked.

Episode 23: The marijuana plant's THC and CBD mimics the human proteins Anandamide and 2-AG, namely endocannabinoid system (ECS).

The Best Kept Secret in Medicine

The human body makes proteins just like those found in the marijuana plant. Endocannabinoids are made within the body, while phytocannabiniods are found in the plant. Nevermind the inconsistencies with naming convention here; these people do handle a lot of pot. The ECS is directly involved with the feedback loop on cell recovery and injury. This means that if you become deficient in endocannabinoids or their receptors, exogenous (outside) phytocannabinoids may help.

Fibromyalgia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, & Migraines

Dr. Ethan Russo announced in 1985 that Endocannabinoid Deficiency Syndrome may replace all three of these diagnoses. Once our internal endocannabinoid system is out of balance, then all homeostatic balance is lost. All three of these conditions are fundamentally neurological, which supports the concept that neurotrophic factors depend on endocannabinoids elsewhere throughout the body and not just in the brain.

Adopting a Naturalist Lifestyle

Seriously, I use terpenes and endocannabinoids on a regular basis in my custom topical remedy for pain. I tell my story because it's illegal for a physician to prescribe marijuana still. You can get a medical marijuana card in legal states, but they usually restrict your rights to buy guns when you do that. Idiots. Support for Medical Marijuana Patients

Marijuana consumption has been lumped into the illicit drugs and not taken seriously as a medicine in the recovery space. There are lots of socially constructed reasons that patients of medical marijuana lack access to solid, supportive community:

Outlawing the import of marijuana in 1937. It used to be legal to import marijuana into the United States.

Government misinformation campaign since the War on Cannabis started by President Nixon June 1971.

Many VA psychologists are still very much against the use of marijuana. I have seen long essays written in response to veteran disability requests with tons of references about how harmful it is. To be fair, psychologists are not trained in such a way as to grasp how the Endocannabinoid System handles the homeostatic balance over every biochemical process in the body.

Available marijuana has lots of pesticides and users of legal cannabis in the US have elevated levels of lead and cadmium in their blood. Clean Green Certification is sparsely available. Doing it yourself is totally available in a growing number of states.

Support Group for Medical Marijuana Patients

This would be a great Mastermind Group to get started. If you are interested, please read this article on Dopamine Dysregulation Disorder - all addiction chemistry is the same. I've already put together a sample flyer for a similar Mastermind Group so we can easily adapt and start this up for you when you're ready.

There are several pitfalls when starting with cannabis products, in my experience. Recall, I've had no alcohol for over 30 years and have been the Medical Director for two world-class substance abuse programs. I have taken care of patients who have gone insane from marijuana, K2 spice, kratom, methamphetamine, and even a dirty Lavender essential oil product. So if you can get through the pitfalls and not have headaches, dizziness, syncope or an upset stomach from eating too much, then we can start talking about how marijuana can be medical. But first, you have to make sure the cannabis is pure and clean - something absent from the literature entirely from my estimation.

A Support Group for Medical Marijuana Patient, in my opinion, should include a few holistic principles. In my experience as a psychiatrist, I've never seen marijuana become a problem for a patient when these principles are in place:

Healing sexuality, trauma, intimacy blockages are done in emotional safety.

Brene Brown's viewpoint on a shame-free environment will be upheld.

Another Prophecy Being Fulfilled?

There are still a few patients, say less than 5%, that know about the ancient prophecies about the sky and the oceans.10-13 There are some whose education was so mainstream that it was shaped by evil empires; empires that would go on to douse the sky with toxins that kill plankton, human brains, solar power, the ozone layer and our defense against powerful solar radiation. Sounds like a conspiracy, right?

Conspiracy Therapy

As more and more conspiracies are coming true, it became evident that I needed a way to help my patients take care of themselves no matter what. Here's what I say to them now: "Assuming the conspiracy is true, what do you think you should be doing to prepare yourself and your family?"

The Disney Illusion Example

One example comes from Disney who owns Fox News. Why did Disney supposedly pay $60,000,000 to have the appearance of chem trails added to all of their old movies? To program the subconscious of the next generation. Parents already deliver the absolute best mind-control programming, so why not slip in a little more to their children and bypass parental influence altogether (almost). If the subconscious is programmed to normalize chem trails, then logical arguments of the conscious mind won't cause behavior change. Even though the science has spoken, you can't talk them out of it. That's why.

Conspiracy Therapy would suggest that rather than worry about all of this, I might be better served to think about what I can do to prepare myself. Not trusting fact-checkers would be a good place to start.

In my studies, I kept running across people from many different types of churches and religions that were in some way tied to the Dead Sea Scrolls. In case you don't know, many ancient scriptures were found in the Dead Sea dating back thousands of years verifying the translations and historical authenticity to hundreds of prophecies. Hundreds of the prophecies are already fulfilled and some pretty terrible ones remain. One of the prophecies involves blotting out the sky and turning the oceans red and rendering them unable to produce fish.

What fascinated and surprised me most is that the worldview was irrelevant for ancient healing. The techniques shared by the healers throughout the ages all followed the same 9 steps. This explains why my feeble attempts to dabble with energy healing modalities and to pray have yielded such fantastic rewards in my life. I hope you can find some encouragement in this article. I can tell you what I do: I focus on the Great Comforter and the canon of scripture confirmed in the Dead Sea Scrolls. There were non-canon scriptures among the Dead Sea Scrolls with healing techniques that also work, but that will be covered in Episode 25: Biblical Psychiatry from all of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Conspiracy Therapy would suggest one might consider reading the Dead Sea Scrolls for oneself.

The "clean-up and repair" cells in the brain use Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor to repair and rebuild new nerve growth in the Central Nervous System. See Figure 1 below from an except from my first book with these images of what the hippocampus looks like before and after treatment. This area of the brain is like a muscle and can be strengthened with new nerve growth, something we were told wasn't possible when my Class of 2007 entered U.T. Houston Medical School.

How we Increase BDNF

Several things increased human BDNF and most of them are lifestyle related. The area of your brain where this is most impactful is an area called the hippocampus. Unfortunately, this is your resilience center, responsible for coping with stress and incorporating new memories into your long-term memory. If you become overwhelmed with life, PTSD or develop clinical depression, you can lose so many neuron connections in the hippocampus that it will shrink.

Here are some of the known ways to increase BDNF:

Meditation & Stretching. Slowing down, taking time for yourself can help.1

Eating more fruit and vegetables. I recommend eating as close to an unprocessed, anti-inflammatory diet as possible (Books: Paleo Diet, Wheat Belly).

Green tea. The caffeine content can be quite high so be careful.2

Resveratrol. Resveratrol is a plant polyphenolic compound.3 

Weight lifting. Fatiguing muscles to the point they are tired with exercise is known to increase BDNF. It also causes the brain to release Growth Hormone at night which is associated with improved sleep.4

Talk therapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy alone, without medications, has been shown to treat PTSD and increase BDNF levels.5

Antidepressant medications. Serotonin and Serotonin/Norepinephrine (adrenaline)-related antidepressant medications increase BDNF and are shown to improve PTSD, depression and anxiety.5

Social connection. Whether it’s work, school, church or volunteer service, establishing a routine with friendly, social interaction is also helpful.6

Prepare Your Own Food

Vegetable oil and seed oils have toxic levels of omega-6. While proclaiming the virtues of omega-3 fatty acids, we crossed over the recommended 2% consumption of dietary vegetable oils a long time ago. Restaurants, processed foods, and the fast-food industry pumps the world full of it. We trusted the food we brought into our homes only to later discover that cancer, obesity, diabetes and macular degeneration blindness are all extremely strongly associated with vegetable oil. We get a rush of all types of neurochemistry when we take a bite of fast food, frozen foods, restaurant foods that is enough to cause a change in behavior. Taken together, these would cause addiction-reward from eating it, remove objectivity from learning about how food impacts our bodies. We are getting a “dopamine hit” from the vegetable oil alone – even if the food is otherwise healthy for human consumption. Sadly, the largest health correlations impact is on the reproductive centers, breast cancer, menopause, perimenopause, and perhaps the future of human civilization itself.

Scary Waters

The same estrogenic properties in the food are present in public, aquatic environments so controlling our dietary intake is crucial to lowering our risk of disease.4 Opioids and other drugs wash off the property into wastewater and creeks, tributaries, lakes and rivers.5 Antidepressants appear in the very Rhine River in Germany that I used to visit when I was stationed there in the Army in the 1990’s.6 Genes encoded with antimicrobial resistance await you in open waters in Canada.7 “One hundred-eighteen pharmaceuticals determined in drinking water samples from 25 U.S. treatment plants.”8 These included carbamazepine, bupropion, cotinine, metoprolol, and lithium most predominantly.8

Glymphatic System Washes Your Brain if you Sleep

Our brains have a washing cycle at night. Once per minute, a small amount of adrenaline causes a small arteriole squeeze all the way through the brain.7 This creates a small amount of space around the vessels for interstitial fluid to be moved and absorbed by the cranial veins. If the Glymphatic System is interfered with that we get a build-up of amyloid proteins that are toxic to the brain – and associated with Alzheimer’s Dementia. It appears that some anti-histamines are anti-cholinergic and these mechanisms stop the Glymphatic System. The over-the-counter shelves are full of antihistamines.8

The prevalence of pollution, autism, ADHD, depression and cognitive slowing has garnered more attention in recent years. What do these 4 have in common? Persistent Genital Arousal Syndrome, Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder, Sex & Love Addiction

Whether you never want to have sex at all, have unwanted orgasms, pain during orgasm or sex addiction, most of these start under similar conditions. There is typically some combination of unhealthy male:female energy and sexual trauma during development, linking the two. They are actually separate things as previously discussed in Episode 17 and can be separated with a Mindshift. Keep in mind, the male brain doesn't fully develop until age 33 and the female brain at age 25. Therefore, your sexual development is technically still continuing until the brain is fully mature. Of course, the younger you are when you have trauma, Adverse Childhood Event (ACE), the more the subconscious absorbed all of that energy and is carrying it forward. Fortunately, the brain can be rewired and you can learn to do it yourself. That is what a customized Mindshift Plan is all about.

Sex and Love Addiction

Yes, Sex and Love Addiction are two different things that often run together. For that reason there are separate 12-Step fellowships for each one: Sex Addicts Anonymous and Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous. I recommend reading the small text book for the one that fits best first. Contacting local meetings isn't highly publicized due to the anonymity, so you'll first have to actually call or email the local contact to explain you're interested in a meeting and you're not from the media.

What get's missed often times is the Love Addiction. This is an addiction to intrigue, that exciting feeling you get when you first make eye with someone or think early-on in relationships that it's a fairy tale romance. Romance and the pursuit of the "new and exciting" creates the same chemical addiction to dopamine in the brain as crack cocaine, and plenty of adrenaline flows during flirtation. The body gets excited at merely the thought of the future with someone still unknown.

By way of disclosure, I got clean and sober at the age of 19 myself and was exposed to 12 Steps and fellowship throughout my younger years. My training helped validate what I already knew, that the 12 Steps are still the #1 most effective approach to addiction - but our culture attacks humility, which is direly needed in recovery. For some, the strings of conformity are just too strong to muster the courage to heal and change yourself, darkening the doorway to a sexual support group and availing yourself freely of the help as if your life depends on it. Mainstream Treatment for Sexual Addiction

Psychotherapy is always recommended because it had yielded amazing results in so many. Intensive Outpatient Programs are helpful for long-term lifestyle change. Mainstream treatment for sexual addiction is sparse, but making an appointment for symptomatic control and general mental health in early recovery can still be very grounding. Mood stabilizers sometimes help with impulsive decisions and mood swings that predispose addicts toward an impulsive relapse. I've seen naltrexone help with cravings for alcohol, gambling, opioid addiction, and unhealthy sexual impulses .

Smart Recovery

Nowadays, there are two other fellowship options besides the hundreds of 12 Step groups for various addictions: Smart Recovery and Celebrate Recovery. Smart recovery is psychology-based and teaches the terminology of every day psychology. These would have probably helped me out a lot in my younger years, particularly in communication in close relationships.

Celebrate Recovery

These are church-based, weekly meetings. They have a unique format. The first hour is a meal together with family, the second hour is a speaker, the third hour are small groups (women's, veterans, etc).

Complimentary And Alternative Approaches to Sexual Disorders

As with recovery from all addictions, C.A.M. offers a wide range of self-care techniques that are crucial to maintaining a sense of balance. Homeopathy, medication classes, massage, Reiki, infrared saunas, acupuncture and Emotion Code would be a good place to start. In my practice, I've found that the ancient practice of male:female energy healing awakens an exciting energy without any addictive behaviors attached, allowing the addict to un-wire the original trauma through repeated, safe encounters of healthy male energy with standard, safe professional boundaries. In psychiatry, it is perfectly ok to discuss taboo subjects and thoughts that are hidden from society, including sexual. Thus, an appointment to make a Mindshift Plan for hypoactive sexual desire, persistent genital arousal disorder, sex and/or love addiction can help you ground this behavior faster than with the mainstream approach alone.

What is Male:Female Energy (masculine/feminine)?

Energy is not sexual, per se. Rather, masculine, male energy has been thought of for millennia as an aggressive or forceful mindset use to typically deal with challenges and threats that face the family. Feminine energy is thought of, in this context, as nurturing within the family unit. The male and female energy exist in both genders, and is not sexual in nature.

We are separating out self-care and lovingkindness as a pure and ancient form of energy.

This feminine nature is absent entirely from a John Wayne mentality. While there is a place to be tough and "rub some dirt on it", I've learned to see it the way of the Native Americans. The lack of nurturing and self-care accelerates aging, increases suffering, and quickens the introduction of physical and mental deterioration.

I learned an interesting fact in the Basic Training class of OLHT is that in 1851 multiple native tribes agreed that it was time that they shared feedback to the white man on the male:female energy imbalances they observed since their arrival. Fourteen years later, were were in Civil War.

One of the more than 30 healing techniques taught in OLHT Basic Training was the ancient Male:Female Healing. I was the only male in the group, some please let's get some more guys to join the January 2026 class. It turns out that this technique was very popular and I witnessed remarkable transformations. There is nothing sexual about it, though a strong, healthy, opposite-sex energy may awaken one's desire to date again. Who Cares?

In trauma, the ancients have always said that your chi gets scattered. Your life force energy receives a disruption in its signaling. Acupuncturists have been opening these "energy channels" for three thousand years.1 The energy of the trauma, I view as body memory, is the subconscious mind that is magnifying all of your emotions 10-fold. That is why I recommend a body release technique in my approach to healing the Mind-Body-Spirit. Complimentary and Alternative Medicine for Sexual Disorder

The positive feedback from my healthy, male energy (unselfish) led me to write a protocol that works for four different sexual disorders. The protocol negates the need for risky or dangerous tantric therapy approaches out there and allows the client to simply "feel" the presence of the healthy opposite-sex energy. Normal standard of care for psychiatric practices is upheld in which the client feels free to discuss taboo or hidden sexual thoughts that are problematic.
