This week on the show, I chat with the wonderful Poppy Mee! Actor, theatre maker, writer and clown.

Fresh off the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Poppy talks about how cabaret strips away the rules and gives performers space to actually bloom. It’s raw, messy, and all about real connection with an audience, the kind of honesty actors are usually told to hide.

We dive into her solo show Psychopomp, born from an existential spiral and turned into something funny, profound, and beautifully interactive. It’s about death, legacy, and asking yourself: what story will you tell the boatman?

At the core of our chat is a moment every actor will relate to. Realising “if I don’t call myself an actor, no one else will.” We talk about that shift from waiting to be picked to finally owning your identity as an artist.

This week on the show, I chat with the brilliant JJ Leach. She's a producer, assistant director, and one of the few people who truly understands both sides of the camera.

We met doing theatre, but it was on film sets where JJ really found her groove. With a background in psychology and a deep love for storytelling, she’s now the calm in the chaos. Running sets, lifting up directors, and creating safe, focused environments for actors to actually do their job.

We talk about finding your lane in the industry, what actors don’t understand about production, and how her empathy makes her a total weapon on set.

In this first episode, I’m joined by my very good mate Nick Launchbury. He's an actor, teacher, and co-founder of Promptside Actors Collective.

We talk about what separates the actors who book from the ones who don’t. Things like turning up with a strong idea, getting comfortable in front of the camera, and learning how to self-direct without overthinking. Sometimes "doing nothing" is the most powerful choice you can make.

Nick shares a bit about his journey as a teacher and what he’s building with Promptside Actor's Collective, a space that supports actors without spoon-feeding them. It’s a grounded, honest chat between two actors trying to make sense of it all, and maybe help a few others do the same.

If you’re navigating auditions, trying to find your voice, or just looking for a bit of clarity in the chaos, I hope this one resonates.
