We finally got Michoel ” Pruz” Pruzansky on the show!

For those who don’t know, Michoel Pruzansky’s song Bou Nirkod is our theme song for this show!

Since the inception of the show, Zeesha has been trying to get Michoel Pruzansky on with us!

It really should come as no surprise that Michoel Pruzansky has been one of the hottest names in the Jewish music world for more than a decade. It’s not just that he has been blessed with incredible musical talent; what makes Michoel Pruzansky unique is his exceptional ability to find songs that showcase his incredible charisma and his infectious Simchas hachaim which are evident in every note and every performance.

The first hint that Michoel was destined to be one of the few who would find success in the competitive world of Jewish music came years ago, when he was a star soloist in Yerachmiel Begun’s Miami Boys Choir.

As an adult Michoel Pruzansky continued dazzling listeners and by 2003 he had already released his debut album Ashrecha together with the legendary Yochi Briskman.

Over the next few years, Michoel continued delighting audiences with heartfelt vocals at weddings and at concerts all over the world, sharing the stage with musical greats Avraham Fried, Mordechai Ben David, and Yaakov Shwekey.

But if Ashrecha was the world’s introduction to Michoel, affectionately known to his fans as Pruz, his next album, released in 2007, gave the Jewish music loving public something to really get excited about. The self-titled lead track of Pruzbul was more than just a clever way of getting Michael’s name out there, it was an incredible song, whose energetic sound, pumping rhythm and off the beaten tracks, lyrics made it an instant hit. Add in crowd-pleasers like the leibidic Taseh and the deeply riveting You’re Watching Me and there was no doubt that Michoel had firmly cemented his place in the highest echelons of Jewish music’s elite.

Hundreds of weddings and concerts later, Michael’s star continued to rise and he has often been touted as one of the rare performers in the Jewish music world who sounds as good live as he does in the studio.

Put him up on the bandstand and the mood in the room becomes electric – at weddings, the dance floor is suddenly filled with happy revelers, while concert attendees can be seen clapping in time to the music and even dancing in the aisles. That is Michoel’s magic, his ability to touch everyone in the room, no matter what the occasion.

Michoel followed up Pruz with MP3, another well-received album that became an instant classic.

Once again, Michoel’s ability to tap into the right composers was the key to the album’s success, packing MP3 with songs that were easy to sing but also showcased his own talent and versatility, with Letav Avid, Al Yisroel Shalom and Show Me the Way added to the list of Michoel’s musical gems.

The 2014 release of Pruz Control, was proof positive that Michoel was one of those rare singers who had staying power, wowing listeners with hits including Am Echad, Ashrei Mi, and Chaverim.

Fast forward to the fall of 2017 and Michoel is still aiming

This week, Zeesha sits down with Duvie Shapiro.

Duvie is the older brother of Mordechai Shapiro who was our guest for episode 28.

Zeesha starts talking with Duvie about his love for music and how he came to be on the scene.

Duvie talks with us about his first gig in music with The Miami Boys Choir. 

He talks about his time in Miami and how it really helped him realize this was something he wanted to do for a living.

His brother Mordechai was also part of that choir.

Duvie talks about how he was in the choir until he was 12.

Duvie just released his debut single and music video Lech Al Zeh on March 27th 2019!

He discusses with us how it was exactly what the song stands for!

From his early years growing up in Brooklyn New York,  Eli tells us how his family was a very musical family.

His father was always singing, his cousins who are also very musical would join in family farbrengans.

He said that his cousins of the band Pumpidisa would always join in. Eli discusses how from an early age he really gravitated to all instruments.

” Whatever it was, I just found it, I had to play it. ”

Eli talks with Zeesha about how his “real” profession is really a CPA.

“When people would ask me, why are not working as an accountant, you could be making money why are you a musician? ”

“I say, Boruch Hashem, I am doing what I love and I make a living”

Eli talks with Zeesha about his music.  This music has a unique style to it. Eli refers to his music as “Settler” music.

Which is very raw, real and open. In his latest music video, this concept and sound really shine.

When asked what his inspiration for Halelu was, Eli describes his times in Israel on Shabbat in Pardes Chana davening in the forest with this niggun being used in the Shabbos morning teffila.

Eitan Katz has been a staple in the Jewish music world for many years.

Zeesha discusses how it all began, his very talented brother Shlomo and his father Avshalom.

Eitan discusses how like most of our guests, music was just a part of everyday life in his home!

His heartfelt music may have propelled him to the upper echelons of the Jewish music business, but for Eitan Katz, music isn’t about fame, popularity or business.

A gift from above that allows each of us to connect with the sparks of holiness that lie deep within ourselves, Eitan sees music as a powerful motivator that fills us with simcha, infuses our lives with spirituality and connects people of all types in an emotional experience like none other.

A member of an extremely musical family, Eitan discovered that he had not just a love of music, but the talent as well. 

Spending his childhood moving back and forth between Los Angeles and Israel, Eitan was exposed to a wide variety of music from his earliest days. 

During his high school years, Eitan found himself gravitating towards the music of R’ Shlomo Carlebach which resonated deep within him and prompted him to take up the guitar, an instrument that instantly felt like it belonged in his hands. 

By age 16 Eitan had written his first original song, the precursor to many heartfelt compositions that brought the words of davening and Tanach to life in unprecedented ways.

His first two albums, Eilecha, produced by his father, beloved chazzan, Avshalom Katz, and Biglal Avos were released jointly with his brother Shlomo. Eitan has six more solo albums to his credit.

While Lemaancha, Boruch Hu, Live in Jerusalem, and Shuvu feature many of Eitan’s original compositions, Eitan Katz Unplugged and Eitan Katz Unplugged 2 feature the niggunim of Shlomo Carlebach. 

Eitan, has continued to learn in yeshiva throughout his musical career and he credits his learning for being the inspiration for his music. 

He travels throughout the United States, spending Shabbosos in different Jewish communities, leading the davening, sharing divrei Torah and ending Shabbos with a moving concert/kumzitz. 

Eitan prides himself on leading an orchestra that is merely the vehicle for the inherent simcha at every wedding, never the star of the show but rather the all important backdrop that sets the stage for an event that is all about holiness-infused happiness.

” We went to sit down and all we had was the two words Hey, Ha! I sent the lyrics to Miriam Israeli and she created a masterpiece from that”

After several singles, Uzi Bodner is finally debuting his all-new original album.

Welcome to episode 28 of Gosimcha: The Podcast. we finally got the opportunity to sit down with one of Jewish music’s biggest star; Mordechai Shapiro!

Mordechai discusses his start in the music world. When he was 7 years old he was part of the Miami Boys Choir along side his older brother.

Initially they didn’t want to take him, however his mother persisted and said ” You either take both of them or none of them”.

Mordechai also discusses his love of music and his love for creating and teaching.

His love for music as he describes comes from his family. We discuss how every member of his family is musically talented all the from his mother, an accomplished opera singer to his brothers.

Sarah Dukes is not your typical Jewish musician. We discuss her love for music and how she discovered her own approach to it at an early age even composing her first song at the age of 8.

Sarah Dukes started playing piano when she was six years old and composed her first song at the mere age of eight. Classically trained until she was 18, the North Carolina raised pianist increasingly turned to her music and songwriting as a way of expressing herself, and by the time Sarah finished high school, she had a stirring collection of original pieces that made up her debut album, “Finding Forever”, performed by world-renowned pianist, Yaron Gershovsky.

Dukes was handpicked by Whisperings-Solo Piano Radio as one of their exclusively featured solo piano artists, and her richly nuanced songs have been featured in several popular documentaries produced by Jewish Educational Media, as well as streamed on various international channels including Enlightened Piano Radio, One World Music Radio, and Pandora.
