Go When God Calls

What happens when life changes in ways you never expected? Does a physical limitation mean God can no longer use you?

In this episode, Angie shares her personal journey with rheumatoid arthritis, medication complications, and the vision impairment that eventually led her to stop driving.

From struggling to read her Bible to learning to depend on others, Angie shares how God has been teaching her that limitations may change the way we serve, but they don't cancel our calling.

Different doesn't mean finished.

If you're facing illness, disability, fear, or changes that make you question your purpose, this episode is a reminder that God still has a plan for your life.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)

Be blessed, have a great day, and remember to go when God calls!

After returning to Mozambique, electricity problems left our home with one burned-out light bulb after another. With finances tight and my vision impairment, the growing darkness began affecting more than my ability to see—it affected my spirit.

When I finally replaced the light bulbs, everything changed. I could see again. My spirits lifted. And God reminded me of the incredible difference light makes in darkness.

In this episode of Go When God Calls, I share this simple moment from missionary life and what God reminded me about the light we carry into the lives of others.

You may feel like your light is small, but somebody may be sitting in the darkness who needs your light.

Matthew 5:14–16

“You are the light of the world... In the same way, let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Ask God:

Who needs my light?

Then look for one simple opportunity to let the light of Jesus shine through you.

Go When God Calls is a podcast with missionary Angie Wheeler Sibia, sharing real stories from more than 25 years of missionary life in Mozambique and the lessons God teaches through ordinary moments.

What happens when God asks you to do something that feels uncomfortable—or even impossible?

In this episode, I share some of my experiences from more than 25 years of missionary life in Mozambique. We talk about faith in action, trusting God, and taking the next step when He calls.

We all have a part in God’s mission. Some are called to go, some are called to send, and all of us are called to pray and encourage one another. Every role matters.

You do not have to know everything or do everything perfectly. You only need to take the next step God is asking you to take.

What it means to put faith into action

Why goers, senders, and prayer partners all matter

How partnership can make a lasting, generational impact

Trusting God when you do not feel qualified

Taking the next step without seeing the entire journey

In this episode, I share what God taught me during a recent furlough home from Mozambique.

I went home expecting to keep podcasting, stay active on social media, continue leading Beacon of Hope Africa from afar, and spend time with family. Instead, God used that season to teach me about rest, surrender, and the importance of being present in the moments He gives us.

I talk about the reality of missionary furlough, the sacrifices families make, the responsibility of carrying ministry from another country, and how sometimes God asks us to pause so we can focus on what matters most.

Sometimes pausing does not mean stopping. Sometimes it means trusting God with what we cannot do and being faithful in the season He has placed before us.

Ecclesiastes 3:1

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens."

This episode originally aired on February 28, 2024 and marked the very beginning of the Go When God Calls podcast.

I’m resharing it now because the message is still the same — God calls ordinary people, and our yes matters more than our confidence or clarity. Since this episode first aired, God has continued to grow Beacon of Hope Africa, the Go Missionary Network, and the lives connected to this journey.

Below, you’ll find updated links and resources that reflect what God is doing now, while the heart of this episode remains unchanged.

My Story of Saying Yes to God

Welcome to the very first episode of the Go When God Calls podcast.

In this episode, I share my personal testimony and how God directed my steps toward missions — even though I was initially reluctant. Despite my hesitation, I eventually said “yes” to God’s call and committed my life to serving on the mission field.

This episode is the beginning of a journey shaped by obedience, faith, and learning to trust God one step at a time.

In this episode of Go When God Calls, I share the prophetic word God spoke over my life at the very beginning of my missionary journey — a word that didn’t make sense then, but has unfolded over twenty-five years in ways I could have never imagined.

From my first trip to Mozambique in 1999, to the early days of Beacon of Hope Africa, to the young men who are now husbands, fathers, business owners, worship leaders, and future leaders — this is a story of deep roots, rivers of impact, and God’s incredible faithfulness.

This episode is personal, honest, and a milestone celebration of what God can do when we simply say yes.

Have you ever tried to trust God but found yourself still holding on “just in case”?

In this episode of Go When God Calls, I share a message that’s close to my heart — learning to lean all the way in when life feels uncertain.

Even after 25 years serving as a missionary in Mozambique, I’m still discovering new layers of what it means to trust God completely. Through stories from Beacon of Hope Africa, a conversation I had with my mom, and lessons I’ve been teaching our teenage boys, I’m reminded that trust isn’t about the how — it’s about the Who.

🎧 TAKEAWAY

Even when I can’t see how things will work out, I know Jesus is working — even while I sleep.

When I speak His Word out loud, it changes the atmosphere around me and the peace inside me.

Today, I’m choosing to sit all the way down in trust — not halfway, not holding myself up “just in case,” but resting completely in Him.

Have you ever felt unsure of what to do after saying yes to Jesus? Maybe you’ve prayed, felt His touch on your heart, or started going back to church — but then wondered, what comes next?

In this episode of Go When God Calls, I share encouragement for both new believers and seasoned Christians. From my own walk with God, I talk about how peace can be an umpire in our lives, how salvation is a free gift, and how God’s promises give us a foundation to stand on every day.

Takeaway: You don’t have to have it all figured out. Salvation is a gift — and the next step is simply to trust Him, follow His peace, and build your life on His Word.

Do you ever feel stuck because of fear — fear of failure, fear of what others might think, or fear of stepping into the unknown?

In this episode of Go When God Calls, Angie Wheeler Sibia shares powerful encouragement and real-life stories from her journey as a missionary in Mozambique. From an encounter at Sam’s Club in Texas to hosting Hannah on her very first trip to Africa, Angie reveals what happens when we stop waiting to feel ready and simply step out in faith.

Takeaway: Courage isn’t the absence of fear — it’s moving forward in spite of fear, trusting that God is with you. If God is stirring your heart to start a podcast, write a book, launch a business, go on a mission trip, or simply share Jesus with your neighbor — don’t wait until you feel perfect. Just start. On this faith-based Christian encouragement podcast, I just want to remind you — God will be with you wherever you go.
