Hi pals, coming up on this weeks episode of Go With The Heat Tubbs and Castillo work undercover to bust drug dealers moving in on Native American land in the episode Indian Wars. On This Week in Vice we’ll be taking a look back when this episode of Miami Vice aired, from Feb. 22 to Feb. 28, 1988, when Miami Vice was king.

On Feb. 24 the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Hustler Magazine, in a suit brought by televangelist Jerry Falwell. Based on a parody ad in Hustler Magazine in 1983, Falwell sued Larry Flynt for libel and emotional distress. Lower courts cleared Flynt of libel and in 1988 the Supreme Court ruled 8-0 that the ad was protected under the first amendment.

The King of the 80’s is back on top of the Hot 100! Becoming his 6th. number one song and the albums fourth single is George Michael’s classic Father Figure. From the album Faith the song spends two weeks at number one and 14 weeks in the top 40. Father Figure was an immediate success and still one of George Michael’s best.

We’re still in the archives as Good Morning, Vietnam rules the box office. But, it doesn’t matter. This is the film I’ve been waiting for and, in my opinion, in the top 10 best action movies of the decade. Starring the greatest action movie star in the history of the world, in Jean-Claude Van Damme is the movie Bloodsport. Unofficially based on the unsubstantiated claims of Frank Dux the film centers around JCVD as he competes in the Kumite. With JCVD, Bolo Yeung and the music performances from Stan Bush its got everything.

Hi pals, coming up on this weeks episode of Go With The Heat the Vice investigates a foreign police chief suspected of selling bombs and a double murder in the episode Baseballs of Death . On This Week in Vice we’ll be taking a look back when this episode of Miami Vice aired, from Feb. 15 to Feb. 21, 1988, when Miami Vice was king.

On Feb. 17 Colonel William Higgins was kidnapped while serving as the Chief, Senior Military Observer for the United Nations Truce Organization in Lebanon. Following his abduction, the United Nations adopted Rule 618 and demanded his release. More than a year later, images of Colonel Higgins were broadcast around the world after a video tape was released of his murder by his captors. In April 2003, the Colonel was posthumously granted the Prisoner of War Medal.

Moving Tiffany aside and replacing the teen sensation at the top of the Hot 100 is Seasons Change from the band Expose. Their fifth single, the song is easily their biggest hit but would only hold the top spot for one week. From the album Exposure it was one of four songs to reach the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Another week with Good Morning, Vietnam at the top so we go to the archives. Starring Sidney Poitier and Tom Berenger is Shoot to Kill. The adventure crime thriller was a box office success and well received by critics and was the triumphant return to the silver screen for Poitier. There are so many great movies behind Good Morning, Vietnam, its easy to forget just how great 1988 was in film.

Finally, back to normal on Miami Vice. Its been a rough few weeks, especially for the FBI who had to admit they track both people cutting off penises and bull semen. But this week we got a great episode of Vice and all of us are pleasantly surprised. In fact, its even an episode that has some merit to today’s political climate.

Now, I know you just heard a dirty word. Trust us, we don’t use this as an opportunity to drag in modern politics into your favorite Miami Vice podcast. We stay focused on bringing you only the best plot hole poking in the industry.

Hi pals, coming up on this weeks episode of Go With The Heat has the Vice digs deep into the troubling circumstances of a Gubernatorial candidate in the episode Vote of Confidence . On This Week in Vice we’ll be taking a look back when this episode of Miami Vice aired, from Feb. 8 to 14, 1988, when Miami Vice was king.

On Feb. 13 the Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada kicked off and would be the beginning of the Winter Olympic surge in popularity. Taking place over two weeks, the Games saw significant TV viewership increases helped develop Canada into one of the top Winter Olympic nations. The Calgary Olympics also include two fantastic underdog stories. First is the famedJamaican Bobsled Team competing, competing for the first time and the subject of the movie Cool Runnings. Second is Eddie “The Eagle”, the first person to compete in the ski jump from Great Britain since 1928 and would finish dead last, but setting personal bests.

INXS’ short run at the top of the Hot 100 comes to an end and is replaced by Could’ve Been by Tiffany. From her debut album, this is the third single released and her second number 1. At just 16 years old, Tiffany became the youngest woman to have a number one album.

With Good Morning, Vietnam still ruling the box office we go to the archives. Its no secret I’m a junkie for 80’s action and the next few weeks has some of the best and cheesiest action movies of the decade. Starring Carl Weathers, Vanity, Craig T. Nelson and Sharon Stone is Action Jackson. The movie received poor feedback from critics, who are a bunch of people who don’t know how to have a good time. I don’t care what anyone says, Carl Weathers in a bonafide action stars of the 80’s and Vanity is a gem.

If last week was a soap opera episode, this week’s is a straight up sitcom-style comedy. The writers must have thought they were so funny, especially making a network show discussions about semen. Unfortunately, most of the jokes don’t land… for Vice.
