Pep Guardiola is a genius of a manager, for sure. Hate him or love him, you just have to respect how much he has achieved as a manager in just a little over a decade. In Spain with Barcelona, in Germany with Bayern Munich, and now in England with Manchester City, he has shown himself to be a great manager, and indeed one of the greatest of all time. But there are some things you probably do not know about this household name in European football. And that’s what this podcast is for. We bring you 10 things you didn’t know about the Manchester City boss. Let’s get straight to it.
Sergio Aguero just said goodbye to professional football in the most emotional press conference. And what makes it sadder is that the Argentinian was not ready to retire. He had not really shown any signs of slowing down. But sadly, it was a decision he just had to make because of his heart condition.
But on the bright side, he had a hell of a career. Ex-Manchester City striker Aguero is undoubtedly one of the best strikers of his generation. He is not only a City legend but an all-around footballing legend. How you ask? Come along. Here are 10 reasons why Kun Aguero is a footballing legend.
Martin Odegaard is a very talented footballer. Surely, Arsenal fans love him, and even some rival fans admire him. Odegaard is obviously a superb young talent, we all know that. But there are some things about the Norway national team captain that you do not know, and that’s what we will be telling you about in this podcast today. Let’s get into 10 things you didn’t know about Martin Odegaard!
Lewandowski to Blackburn? Did you know that the latest Ballon d’Or runner-up and European Golden Shoe winner nearly played for Blackburn Rovers? And no, we’re not talking just usual transfer rumours, the deal was actually very close to being finalized.
His flight was already arranged to go see Big Sam, Blackburn’s manager at the time, in Lancashire. Bear in mind that Lewandowski was not yet a global superstar at the time. He was playing for Lech Poznan, a club in a not very popular Polish league. So, he was surely not bigger than a move to Blackburn.
Meanwhile, the highest goalscorer in the history of the Champions League is out of this world. Everybody knows that Cristiano Ronaldo is not of this planet. And guess what! Astronomers just went ahead and confirmed that for us.
Dr David Sorbal, along with a couple of other astronomers, some time in 2015, discovered a galaxy which, according to them, had existed for about 13 billion years. They named that galaxy CR7 and admitted that it was inspired by the 5 time Ballon d’Or winner.
It maybe explains a little that Dr Sorbal is Portuguese. Cristiano is probably his idol and that was his way of honouring him. Well, it is Cristiano’s galaxy; we’re all just living in it.
Football is a very interesting game. And to be honest, some football rules make the sport even more interesting. Yeah, of course, as a football fan, you are familiar with most rules of the game. You can spot an offside, you can tell when a foul deserves a red, and more often than not, you sure can spot a penalty yourself. However, we will be bringing you 10 rules in football that you probably never knew about. And no, these are not back-in-the-day rules. They still exist. Let’s get right into it!
Oh, you think Barcelona adding a 1 billion euro release clause in Pedri’s new contract was ridiculous? Well, you haven’t seen anything yet. There have been much weirder and much more bizarre contract clauses in football history and we will be bringing you some of them in this podcast today.
When Liverpool signed Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim and put a 98 million euro release clause in his contract, that surely was not bizarre. But a closer look at that contract and you will see why it was a pretty unusual one. Liverpool stated that their new striker could be sold to any club for 98 million euros provided that club is not Arsenal. That is to say, the Merseyside club was willing to sell their star striker to even their neighbouring rivals, Everton, but surely not Arsenal.
The money paid to lift Neymar from Barcelona in 2017 was not the only shocking thing about that move. Apparently, a clause was included in his contract that allows the Brazilian to earn 375,000 euros per month if he claps to the PSG fans at the end of every game.
Wow. Don’t you wish you were Neymar right now and are being paid to clap? We sure do!
Anyway, PSG came out to clear the air that their number 10 doesn’t earn that bonus for just clapping. He also had to be polite to journalists and reporters, show up to training early, and not bet on competitors.
There’s a new Champions League record-breaker in town. And who would have guessed that it would be the West Ham United flop, Sebastien Haller? The Ivorian who signed with West Ham for a club-record fee in 2019 never actually got to hit his peak for the London club. He only managed 10 goals in 2 years before he moved to his current club, Ajax Amsterdam. So far, Haller has been having the time of his life at Ajax, especially in the Champions League. So, in this video, we will be telling you 10 things about the new kid on the UEFA block that you probably never knew about. Let’s get right to it.
The former man on the Manchester United touchline is a very interesting character. Ralf Rangnick has an outstanding track record in Germany, having managed various Bundesliga outfits such as Schalke 04, Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig. During his years of coaching, he came to be known as the 'godfather for Gegenpressing.' This style of football involves high-pressing and attempting to win the ball high in the opposition's half.
Ralf, as we said, is a very interesting character, and you will be listening to that in this podcast.
Serge Gnabry is a bonafide football superstar. The German International took world football by storm when he joined Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, teaming up with the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller to form a devastating attacking frontline that has terrorized defences in Germany and Europe for years.
We know all too well about his silky skills, pace, and deadly finishing. But what else do you know about Serge Gnabry? Well, we'll be revealing 10 things we're pretty sure you didn't know about the Bayern number 7.
Manchester City's season may have looked a whole lot different had things played out differently in the summer. Bernardo Silva was strongly linked with a move away from the club, as City successfully pursued Jack Grealish and unsuccessfully chased Harry Kane.
In the end, Silva stayed where he was and the Portugal international has arguably been the team's standout player this season. His brace against Watford put City back on top of the Premier League on Saturday night.
Bernardo Silva stood out once again, grabbing two goals after Raheem Sterling opened the scoring for Pep Guardiola's side. Cucho Hernandez pulled one back for Watford late on, but it was too little too late. Sterling's goal came just four minutes in. Bernardo Silva played a pass out to Phil Foden on the left-wing, which the Englishman then controlled before sending in a cross for Sterling to head home from close range.
City doubled their lead in the 31st minute, as Ilkay Gundogan's shot was saved by Daniel Bachmann but fell at the feet of Bernardo Silva, who got away from William Troost-Ekong before managing to score from an acute angle. Just shy of the hour mark, Foden ran at Kiko Femenia and drilled a shot towards a goal that hit the post and went behind.
