They are both 18 years old and she has had one very insightful journey on what it took to not only raise two autistic boys, but to do it as a single mom with their father out of the picture. Let us formally introduce you to GoalDlocks, a company dedicated to the advocacy, resources, stories, and inspiration of families with children with disabilities, particularly in underrepresented groups. Dom and Alex are a married couple 7 years in with three kids, 2 of which were born with a condition that places them amongst children with special needs. Their oldest, Zachary has Autism Spectrum Disorder, Their middle child, Dominick Jr. aka DJ, has a rare condition called Sturge Weber Syndrome. Dom and Alex had to navigate some tough waters the last couple years trying to get the best resources, doctors, therapists, and schooling for their children, and have felt behind the 8 ball more than once. It doesn't help that theyre a black family, that has to raise their children in a world that is already skeptical of people that look like them. Their plan is to share their story, and the story of families like them to bring about community and advocacy amongst one another. 

This interview is with Shavonne Brown-O'Meally, a speech language pathologist in Florida who treats 90 percent African American patients. She has a wealth of knowledge on the do's and dont's of helping the speech deficits of children with special needs, and is a successful provider of a Black Owned Business. Please support!
