In this opening message of our new series Wanted, we begin an unexpected journey through one of the most poetic — and often avoided — books of the Bible: the Song of Songs. Far from being just romantic poetry, this ancient text reveals something startling about the heart of God.

Through the voice of a marginalized, sun-darkened working woman boldly declaring, “I am dark and beautiful,” we discover a gospel reversal: the King desires the overlooked. The Beloved chooses the one the world devalues. This is not love rooted in status, image, or perfection — it is love that pursues, affirms, and delights.

In a culture obsessed with comparison, hustle, and curated worth, this message speaks directly to the ache so many carry: Am I truly wanted?

The answer of Scripture is clear.

You are not tolerated.
 You are not an obligation.
 You are desired.
 You are beloved.
 You are wanted.
