God Centered Life

When we hear the word sinner, we tend to compare ourselves to others and think we're not so bad. But Paul shows that none of us is righteous.

People today tend to think of God's righteousness as being strange or unfamiliar, or they just think of it in terms of trying to be good enough to please God. In Romans we find a different definition of righteousness.

As people begin to understand the gospel, they often ask the question, "Doesn't that mean I can do whatever I like?" Pastor Josh explains that this is not what Paul is teaching.

Pastor Josh teaches that God is trustworthy. We must get out of ourselves and look to God and know that He keeps his promises, is absolutely reliable, and speaks truth.

No technique, program, expertise, qualifications, or human cleverness can ever replace powerful transformation by the Spirit of God. Heart matters require Holy Spirit solutions.

We need to take the idea of the pleasure of God and soak in it. When we have a vew of God as stodgy, it is often the barrier to deep Christian devotion. He savors old age and he is the excitement of any age.

How many excuse flabby spirituality because they possess external signs yet don't focus on being holy? Pastor Josh focuses on the real internal change that comes about by God's Spirit.

What would be the result if this increasingly took placeif we who follow Jesus Christ were being transformed into his likeness? Would the people who visit our churches notice?

It is easy to treat religious things as a safety net rather than something that is transformative to our livesfull of life and power.

Paul uses the term "gospel" in an unusual context. Pastor Josh teaches the entirety of the gospel, including a future promise that may not be immediately considered good news.
