In this episode we continue in the book of Colossians, specifically picking up in chapter 2. In this text Paul calls on Christians to find their fulfillment inside of the fullness of Christ. There is a real temptation to go to worldly philosophy and fleshly practices to promote spiritual growth, but here Paul condemns it. What earthly things am I turning to that actually distract me from growing closer to God?

In this episode we begin working through Paul’s letter to the Colossians. In this opening chapter we see Paul pray about God’s power that is at work in these brethren. This power was also displayed through Jesus Christ and his redemptive work on the cross. Do my prayers match the depth of Paul’s prayers, and do I strive to let God’s power through Jesus to change me into a mature disciple?

In chapters 10-11 we are introduced to a Gentile man named Cornelius who feared God and sought to know him. When the apostle Peter was sent to preach to him, it started a change in the Lord’s church that made it evident that all men, including Gentiles, are welcome to enter the body of Christ. Will we choose to listen to him and follow what he says, or will we be like a fool who hears him, but disregards everything he has said? How can I be better about following through with the teachings of Jesus even when they are hard to apply? And do I marvel at Jesus’ teaching the way that I am supposed to?
