What does it mean to fast, and what are the benefits to fasting?

Jesus fasted for 40 days before He began His ministry.

Moses fasted for 40 days before he received the 10 commandments.Daniel fasted for 10 days before God gave him the gift to interpret dreams.Nehemiah fasted before beginning the major project of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem.The list goes on and on.If you need to gain some insight, revelation, additional strength, or simply just want to grow closer to God, you are going to have to start fasting!

(Go figure).America has the highest rate of single parent households and 83% of those single parents are mothers, which leaves a lot of women and men who have grown up without having a father in their lives.In this week’s video, we are talking about “Daddy Issues”, how can you identify if you have them and also, how are you able to get over those issues.The Bible is jam packed with examples of men and women who have had daddy issues. Abraham tried to kill his son, Isaac. Jonathan’s dad, King Saul, tried to kill his best friend, David. Hagar was left as a single mother. Lot offered his daughters up to a group of men to be raped. (Yes, it gets crazy 😳)God is Glamorous is all about living your best life through Jesus Christ, and that starts with targeting the issues of your heart.

Today, we are taking a look at the book of Exodus, where we study the story of Moses before he lead the Israelites out of Egypt.

 

Moses was faced with a number of insecurities before he was actually comfortable with carrying out God's mission.

 

Moses did not feel worthy of doing what God called him to do, and he let his doubts and fears get in the way.

 

There is a plot twist, however. Later on in the story, Moses was able to accomplish his mission to lead this Israelites out Egypt and overcome his insecurities, but he ended up getting a little cocky along the way.

There lived a widow who took on a debt from her husband who recently passed away and was unable to pay off the debt. As a result, the creditor threatened to take her two sons as slaves if she did not pay her balance.

The widow goes to Elisha, and asked for help. Elisha was able to give her a specific action plan and help her become an entrepreneur. She was ultimately able to pay off her debt and live off the rest of her profits for the rest of her life by trusting in God and having faith that God would provide for her.
