Passage: 1 Thessalonians 5:23-28; 2 Thessalonians 3:16-18 The letters of Paul and the other apostles in the New Testament often open and close with a blessing of grace and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus. As he closes his letter to the Thessalonians, Paul's benediction broadens that appeal to include God's work of sanctification in the life of the church. Indeed, our sanctification is a work of God's grace that results in God's peace. As we conclude our series in Thessalonians, it is fitting that Paul gives one last prayer of assurance and gospel-hope in the midst of hostility: that the God of peace will complete the work of he has begun in us through the sanctifying grace of his Spirit in us.
