There are those in the Church whom God's Grace is shed upon, being protected for the purpose of His name. We see God removing that hedge from Ahab because just as with all of Isreal and Judah, His vineyard was not producing the fruit it should have. There was no sign of God's abudant care that hwe had enjoyed, but sour, unproductive fruit, so He laid the axe to the root of the tree.
