I greatly enjoyed my conversation with Regina this month! I first heard Regina share her story at a Story Tellers Live gathering and loved getting to hear more in our conversation together. Regina shares about the importance of having a good tribe. That we are better together. She said, “Not just being in proximity but building intimacy and relationship over time. That is what being in community and living life together really, really looks like.” Regina shared how community really helped her during some hard times like navigating the criminal justice system for years and pleading her brother and best friends innocence. Regina said that good and hard can co-exist and God doesn’t waste a thing. She shares a time when her daughter and all girls of color at their school got a threatening text message filled with hate during lunch. Regina decided to follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance instead of her flesh. The way her response impacted the community and brought unity and change still has positive effects to this day. We talk about how our responses teach our kids and how she really wants to reflect God well in all she does. Like Romans 8:28 talks about, He will use all things to work together for our good and His glory. Regina’s life is evidence of this.

Jocelyn had her first real encounter with the Lord while in Bible College where God spoke to her about her identity. Before that she didn’t feel seen or heard. After hearing God, she stopped caring what other people thought of her. She now knows the only One that really matters sees her and loves her.

This is a very personal one for me! I share words my dad wrote on his phone for me after I told him he should write down all of the amazing stories he had. Personal stories from his life. I also share a couple of clips from a recording I took at the beginning of August of my mamaw talking. Little did I know she would pass 3 weeks later. I also share the words I spoke at her funeral. Courtney and I met through my mom and I was instantly eager to hear more of her story. She has amazing stories. We started this conversation talking about how she was first introduced to Jesus through a special woman named Havana. Courtney talked about when it all came together for her and she understood the gospel and gave her life to Christ. She shares about how her family lost everything in hurricane Rita. She experienced mass destruction physically and also emotionally. Courtney opened up about addiction and how that’s impacted her family on multiple levels. She gives great insight and encouragement for those effected. I first saw Mrs. Rhonda Williams on stage powerfully and beautifully singing at Second Baptist Church. Years later she became the Director of Women’s Ministry. I met with her a few times while my son attended pre-school there and she poured into me. I loved getting to know her more. In this episode she shared how she married her husband at 18 and the struggles they faced. She talked about having a “truth teller” in your life and what that did for her. Rhonda shared walking through hard times and walking by faith and not sight. She shares that real faith sometimes is moving out in-spite of fear. It’s not always being fearless but learning to step out when God has called you so you can accomplish what He has called you to do. The Lord has been so good and faithful to Mrs. Rhonda and she is such a bright light for King Jesus.

Chardae is a warrior woman who adores the Lord and knows Him as her all in all. Chardae learned intimacy with the Father at an early age and even more so as she faced really hard circumstances. She learned how not to blame God for man’s mistakes and how not to be bitter towards man as well. We talk about hardship, speaking in tongues, knowing God in all areas and how to invite Him in to our broken spaces. This conversation is a deep well as is Chardae. How God has worked in so many areas of her life is truly inspiring and encouraging. It brought me motivation and hope and I know it will you too.

It was such an incredible blessing for me to sit across the table from Aaron and his wife, Alicia Um to hear his God story in their home.

Aaron grew up in South Korea until his family relocated to Spain when he was 17. There he met his now wife of 33 years. He shares with us the hardship they faced with strong cultural differences and people fighting to keep them apart. Aaron’s family was very traditional in Korean culture which presented a lot of challenges for him when he fell in love with a woman from Spain. What God did in his life before he even knew God was amazing. He then shares how he began real relationship with the Lord and how transformative that was in all areas of his life. How it all happened is stunning- like a movie you don’t want to miss a minute of!

To listen to Hannah’s story is to hear God’s faithfulness. Her last words of this conversation are “He is faithful”. That sums up her story. What an incredible one it is. Hannah had a need for acceptance and in her words, had a “massive hole” in her heart. She was always wanting more and more and nothing would fill the empty hole. She found herself facing addiction to alcohol. Hannah said that she often looked great on the outside but felt very lonely inside. She faced anxiety and no peace. God kept pursuing her through her hard circumstances and being faithful answering her questions to Him. He lead her to truly understand Who He is, that He’s real and then He freed her from the doubt and torment she faced as well as her addiction. No words can capture her story like she can tell it. I hope you won’t miss a minute of this one! God is so good, powerful and He is faithful.

Rebecca grew up with no stability in her home and craved that love and security which she finally found at the age of 15 when she met her Father God and gave her life to Him. She shares how God healed her heart and then gave her the Godly family she didn’t have growing up. Rebecca shares about their miscarriages, dreams she has received from God and how He has redeemed her story.

Alix visited America for the very first time in 2001. She was supposed to be in the twin towers the morning of 9/11. God had other plans for her and her tour guide overslept. Alix saw the second plane hit the building with her own eyes. You don’t want to miss her story. But what happened after that for her is especially special! Her encounter with Jesus changed the very trajectory of her life. Alix says towards the end, “He didn’t have to show up but He did and He always does.” I hope you’ll listen close to every word she says and hear how truly good God is.✨
