We're opening a new 12-week sermon series today, taking a look at questions Jesus asked in the course of teaching those who followed Him. We begin with the topic of worry, a habit we all have, and on deeper probing, realize it is far more pervasive in our lives than we would like to admit. Whether you’ve only said it to yourself or admitted it to someone else, you’ve inevitably said something like, “I HAVE to worry! If I don’t, I’ll be left hanging!” Jesus wants to teach us otherwise. He addresses the hearers of His day with the very thing we find ourselves doing in modern times, and Pastor Greg walks us through what Jesus taught as a path to freedom from worry.

As we conclude this series, the final chapter covers the promise of His return that Christ made after the cross, as He ascended back into heaven. The bible began “the story” with the account of creation, how man sinned, the consequences of his sin, then continued with God sending His only Son, Jesus Christ, the Messiah, who gave His life by dying on a cross to redeem those who would place their faith in Him and be saved. We’ve now come to the final chapter to the story which looks forward at when He will return to set up a new heaven and new earth, and scripture paints us a picture of what that will look like. Today is a deep dive into the details of Christ’s return, and is truly a message of hope, because it unveils the glorious eternity, God living with man, in a time without end!

At the outset, and throughout this sermon series it should have become clear that God wants man to know who He is, and how he can have a relationship with Him. The Bible, God’s perfect Word, offers everyone the free gift of salvation and eternal life through belief in Jesus Christ, His Son. Once we become believers, we are all sent to share the good news with others.

As the series has unfolded, it should now become apparent that the story of scripture is not just history, it is also His Story, the story of Jesus Christ the Messiah, who came to redeem sinful mankind. He perfectly fulfilled the law given to Moses and His chosen people and became the once-and-for-all sacrifice that replaced the sacrificial system of the Old Testament. Believing in Jesus’ death and resurrection as the payment for your sins and mine is the ONLY way to heaven. Today, on Easter, we celebrate the most important event in all of history which took place 2,000 years ago. Come and join in as we ponder what Easter is all about and what it means in our lives today!
