When I first found Claire Yaseed’s writing on Substack, something ancient in me exhaled. Her words didn’t feel like information so much as remembering—like a hand at my back, steadying me in the doorway between worlds. Today’s conversation traces her long, spiraling path: from being deeply medicalized as a child and young adult, to a vision in a college classroom, to the jungles of Colombia and the elders who received her as a daughter. It’s a story of illness unraveling into initiation, and of a woman listening, fiercely, until her body became home again. What I love about Claire’s teaching is the way she bridges. She honors lineage, ceremony, and the intelligence of the plants—and she’s also studying inside Western frameworks, learning physiology from the inside out. We also explored the “cosmic joke” of free will. You know that feeling when life isn’t nudging but assigning you—sometimes inconveniently—to your path? Claire names it plainly: we can choose to align with the laws of nature, or not. The consequences show up in our bodies, relationships, and ecosystems. I related so much to this: the way intuition can be terrifying in the moment, yet the only compass that keeps the road straight. One of my favorite parts of this conversation is Claire’s grounded way of speaking about masculine and feminine. Not as performance or polarity cosplay, but as biology and coherence—brains, bones, hormones, and how women’s nervous systems interface with mystery. In the jungle, Claire was told that women often need less medicine to do the same spiritual work. That landed for me. It also reframed how I engage with men in my life—fathers, colleagues, friends—not just romance. And then there’s hormonal birth control. We talk about it with compassion and context—how it emerged as a lifeline for agency, and also how it can alter attraction, libido, pheromone signaling, and our ability to read compatibility. Claire doesn’t moralize; she gives us back options: repair the body, learn to track fertility, develop relationship with plant allies, move at a pace that feels safe. Fear is normal, she says—and strategic. It sharpens discernment about who has access to our fertile bodies.Which brings me to Claire’s Natural Birth Control Series. If you’re curious (or nervous), this offering is medicine: preparing to transition off the pill or IUDs without shocking your system; embodied cycle tracking that’s actually doable; and plant allies for conscious contraception, including what to call on in that golden window after ovulation. Even if you’ve been off hormonal birth control for years—or you’re in perimenopause—education heals timelines. It repairs that “soul-fracture” where we were taught to mistrust our bodies.I’ll be there—and yes, I’m trying to get my daughter to come, too. Because some teachings are best received in circle, where wisdom echoes through the room and settles into the bones. If you feel the tug, follow it. That tug is the body’s “yes.”With love,SarahP.S. If you’re new here: I’m building a body of work that treats your intuition like the wise elder it is—podcast, essays, and experiences that help you hear it more clearly.
