'Mansplaining' is a neologism consisting of the words 'man explaining'. Mansplaining can be described as the act of a man explaining something to a woman in a condescending or patronizing manner, assuming she doesn’t know and understand the subject accurately and ignoring her own existing competencies and potential in this field.
'Manspreading' is the tendency for some men to sit with legs wide apart, taking up excessive space, especially in public areas, to the extent of not offering others personal space.
On an important note, I'm not generalizing men by assuming that all of them are mansplaining and manspreading, but I’m specifically referring to the group of men who indeed are.
Furthermore, I acknowledge that there are women who 'womansplain' in a similar way.
Moreover, the individuals who experience mansplaining and manspreading are not women only, but equally include non-binary people and other men who are not mansplaining and manspreading themselves and who also experience some other men’s 'toxic masculinity'.
This episode of the Goddess of Technology podcast is inviting you, goddess, to gain an in-depth and critical understanding of the mentally, emotionally and intellectually challenging and frustrating concepts of mansplaining and manspreading.
Furthermore, I’m sharing smart strategies on how to succeed in an environment polluted by toxic masculinity.
Have you gathered any experience with mansplaining and manspreading, queen? If so, what exactly did you experience and how did the situation make you feel? What piece of advice would you share with your younger self to manage this kind of situation effectively?
I would be delighted to learn about your personal story through the contact form linked in the general podcast description.
