We become godly by first placing our faith in Jesus Christ, believing that His death on the cross is the only way to be reconciled to God and receive eternal life. From there, we cultivate a growing relationship with God by seeking Him first in every area of our lives. As we walk with Him, the Holy Spirit transforms our hearts, making us more like Christ.
Part of becoming godly is growing in discipline. As our faith and knowledge of Christ deepen, we intentionally pursue self-control and perseverance—two qualities that mark a godly life. As these traits take root in us, they naturally overflow into our relationships with others, producing brotherly kindness and genuine love.
If we are seeking to be more godly, this passage is key! Listen to our sermon here.
