The pressure in almost every facet of life is to perform. We have got to rise the highest, make a name for ourselves, make the most money, etc. We essentially have to become gods. You will find in that pursuit that God Himself is nowhere to be found. Where can I find Him you might ask?

There is a sin problem where we have done certain acts of sin. I feel guilt weighing me down and realize that I’m guilty before God for the things I have done! There is also sin in our disposition. There is a fountain inside that I am not guilty of but that needs cleansing.

Why can’t God just do everything for us and just call us holy even though it is impossible for us to live like that? Why would God command us to be holy if it is impossible? We live in a culture that takes the edge off of biblical truth. We have the benefits of the Covenant without the responsibilities. We have the goodness of God without the severity. We have the power of God without the purity. We have the love of God without the wrath. If God is holy and we, as born-again Christians are his children, can we be holy and does God require it of us?

If I just pray and receive Jesus or make a "decision" then I'm alright. I mean, I don't really have to try and change my life altogether because God knows its really hard and I'm just human, right? I mean, when He says, "Be ye holy" He must mean something other than me actually being holy, right?
