GOD’S TWO-FOLD PURPOSE PT1

Genesis 1:1 – In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth

1. SINCE THE BEGINNING

a) God’s will is clearly stated in Eph 1:9-11.

b) Since the world began – Luke 1:68-70, Acts 3:18-21

c) Before the world began – Rom 16:25, Col 1:25-26.

d) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth, two different realms – Genesis 1:1, Psalms 102:25, Isa 48:13, 1Cor 15:48-49

2. GOD’S PLAN FOR THE EARTH

a) This was plan was spoken since the world began, after Gen 1 – Gen 1:28, Psalm 8:4-9 – God gave man dominion over the earth.

b) Man sinned and corrupted the earth – Gen 3:17-19, 6:5-7…. Rom 1:18-32 explains this early period in Genesis.

c) God called Abram, Isaac, and Jacob - Gen 12:1-3, Isaac and Jacob – Gen 17:19-21, 26:3-4, 39:9-12.

d) Jacob’s name turned to Israel, Israel had 12 sons which make up the 12 tribes of Israel – Gen 49:1,28.

e) Not only did God make a covenant with the fathers of Israel, but with the nation, Israel’s seed – Exo 19:5-6, 23:20-23, Deut 5:2-3.

f) The covenant concerns a kingdom, a nation, a land on the earth – Isaiah 65:19-25, Zech 8:3

g) Those who make it in this kingdom must endure – Matt 10:22, 24:13, Heb 6:13-15, James 5:10-11, 1Pet 1:6-9 – Noah, Job, Daniel are examples of this.

h) God chose a nation to be a light to the world to show righteousness – Matt 5:14-20, Deut 6:24-25, Isa 2:2, 62:1-3.

i) God will use his nation to bring in the Gentiles – Isa 59:20-60:3, Zech 8:22-23.

j) The earthly kingdom is Jewish – Rev 21-10-14.

3. THINGS OF EARTH IN CHRIST

a) They have to abide in him – John 15:1-10

b) They will be able to keep the law because of the Spirit in them – Jer 31:31-34, Ezek 36:26-27, Act 4:31-32,

c) They have to believe in him – John 6:56 cf vs35, 11:25-26.
