On the Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows, we reflect on Mary’s faith at the cross.
John 19:25–27 tells us: ‘Standing by the cross of Jesus was his mother…’ In her deepest sorrow, Mary did not abandon her Son. Instead, she received a new mission when Jesus said: ‘Behold, your mother.’
Mary’s grief was real, but her love was greater. At the cross, she became our spiritual mother, walking with us in suffering and leading us closer to her Son.
