This episode is a deep-dive analysis of a discussion that host Jacob Goff had during the public comments portion of the St. Francois County Commission meeting on June 4th, 2024. Hosted by Jacob Goff with Ryan Cooper.
This is an introductory podcast to the new (old) show that I'm calling theology after dark. That used to be the name of a podcast I did with my friends which is no longer available as far as I know (although all the episodes live on my old macbook I'm sure). So, I'm kind of spending the whole time catching up on my spiritual journey over the last few years, ending with a short whine about the war on drugs and trump (I know trump isn't president anymore, I didn't mean for it to come up, and I criticize biden and hope to continue to do that so GET OFF MY ASS). My plan is for this to drop on Mondays, and for same style of show I was doing on this thread before, I'm renaming "The Localist" and hope to drop that show on Wednesdays. We'll see if I meet my own deadline. Sorry for talking so slow in this podcast, also thanks for listening.
Jeremy and I had only spoken once before this. We are both obviously hyped up on coffee but the connection was genuinely electric. We just nerded out about coffee for an hour then turned off the recording and hung out even longer. We hit on a lot of topics that need more exploration, so we will definitely be hanging out with the Bowtie Barista again. He works most mornings that Arcadia Valley Roasting Company is open, you should go get a latte from him when you need to go for a ride. Thanks to AVRC for letting us record in the backroom at the shop!
This is my good friend and poker buddy Scott. His life has changed a lot over the last year, and it always amazes me how our little town is able to absorb and re-absorb folks who are going through chaos and sudden changes. You wouldn't maybe think this conservative town is full of such diverse folks. Scott is super smart and fun to talk to. The topics are all over the place. At one point I start ranting about the daily journal and I mix-up Rupert Murdoch and Warren Buffett. We use a lot of bad language and probably every curse word, I'm trying not to edit myself out too much. I'm not trying to offend anyone just want to have an honest tone! God bless and thanks for listening.
This is the most important podcast I've done and I'm really honored that Darryl came to talk with me about the protests last year and generally being a black dude in a rural area who is attempting to speak out against law enforcement abuse and common racism. We set the record straight on a bunch of BS that happened over the last year. This was recorded last Wednesday, which was exactly a week after the Capitol was violently stormed by alt-right activists. We use that to juxtapose the peacefulness of our protests compared to the violence of Trump protests. Let us know what you think on Facebook!
