We also talk about a bunch of the excellent undercard races and some of the sharp looking performances that we saw there. On tonight’s Big Monday Show LIVE from Pompano Park, Barry and I are joined by CJ Johnson from CJ Thoroughbreds and Silky Seth Wilkey, bloodstock extraordinare!! We talk about Barry’s coverage of the Florida Cup last Sunday from Tampa and how a track bias emerged and how to maybe take advantage of it when horses race back. CJ gave us a breeding angle to look for when perusing the entires, Drunkonaplanewins at the Pomp and we get in the winners circle, we talk about the Louisiana Derby and the impressive nature in which Epicenter won and a little about how underestimating Echo Zulu might be a mistake. Talk a little Florida Derby which is coming up strong with the recent additions from the Tampa Bay preps. Then we travel while on the air to Gabe Prewitt’s office to get the scoop on next Monday nights huge match race at Pompano between him and Peter Aiello which figures to be a great time for everyone. Then Barry and I switch gears to talk about the Dubai World Cup and speculate where we might see Life is Good next and how he may have been compromised more than we realize by the fast pace or maybe he can’t get 1 1/4.

On tonight’s Going in Circles Big Monday show Barry and I discuss the bill passed in KY that slashes breakage eyes to a penny (good news) while raising ADW tax on KY residents (not so good news). Of course we talk about the latest Baffert news, he was denied a stay of his 90 day Kentucky suspension by a KY judge though he has till April 4 to file a suit in civil court before he will be required to serve those days. The difficulty in getting things done is a topic that we dive into and while not it’s not the most upbeat segment, it’s a reality that we all must face if we participate in racing in any capacity. We end by talking a little NCAA hoops and the struggle with the refs. Check it out!

On tonight’s MEGA Big Monday show Barry and I discuss his big weekend over at Tampa Bay Downs doing an excellent job on the in-house handicapping show for the Tampa Bay Derby card. We breakdown the big race won by Classic Causeway and then we go through the comprehensive Derby list that was released on the Going in Circles Digest this morning which features commentary on every potential KY derby runner. We get Barrys thoughts on those runners and how speed and post positions loom as even extra important in this years Run for the Roses. We also speak to the need for a nationwide owner recruitment program that ALL facets of the industry contribute to. I talk about Bob Baffert but in a far different manner than you might be expecting.
