The order of things matters when you commit your life to following Jesus. Part of what God invites us to do with our money is to trust Him with our first and our best. Proverbs 3:9-10 and Malachi 3:10 make the ask clear while Paul reminds us to check out motivations for giving in 2 Corinthians 9:6-7. I give God my first and my best because He gave me His first and His best. When I trust His plan, I have the opportunity to experience true freedom in my finances.
