Promoted as the next Tiger Woods, but for women’s golf, many had high hopes for Michelle Wie to make good on her early promise as a young prodigy. While she did eventually become a major champion, many still believe that she has yet to live up to the hype.

Many have talked ad nauseum about Tiger’s life and his chase for majors. But I think one of his greatest records, that he’s about to break, is the record for the most PGA Tour wins, and you don’t break record like that without winning a lot of non-majors.

The PGA Tour has a very unique system for getting players on their tour, and it can get quite complicated to keep up with all those different ways. In this video, I am going to show you those main ways to earn a PGA Tour card.

Golf is such a different sport in that a 2nd place finish is really not too bad of a result relative to the field size. Sometimes, a 2nd place finisher might not have done anything particularly wrong, and they just got beat by a better performance. Hence, in this video, I’m going to mix up it a little bit and pay homage to those performances that we’re winning worthy but came up just short.

At one point, Hunter Mahan was the only player to make every Tour Championship during the FedEx Cup era. As soon as he turned pro from the mid-2000s to the mid-2010s, he was a consistent force on tour racking up half a dozen wins and rising to as high as 4th in the world rankings. The only thing missing was a major win, and it seemed it was only a matter of time before he got one. However, in the past 5 seasons, his game and consistency has dropped off significantly.

For every great Earl and Tiger Woods relationship, there’s a Marc and Sean O’Hair relationship in golf. Despite Sean O’Hair’s estranged relationship with his father, he seemed to have found his own rhythm in the late 2000s. At one point, he even had the most wins for any PGA Tour player under 30. However, over this past decade, he has not replicated the same success.
